Head To Head
Gary Anderson has won four of the five matches he's played against Gian van Veen in the PDC, including a 16-14 victory over "The Giant" in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Grand Slam. Van Veen did get the better of the former World Champion for the first time in their last meeting, beating Anderson 7-4 in the semi-finals of a floor tournament in September.

I fancied Gian van Veen for a deep run in this year's World Championships, having backed him to win his quarter and face Luke Littler in the final in my pre-tournament betting tips.
The former World Youth Champion had to play some excellent darts to defeat Cristo Reyes and Alan Soutar in his opening two matches. "The Giant" then cruised past Madars Razma in Round 3, and only dropped one set to Charlie Manby to reach his first quarter-final.
I was so impressed with Gian van Veen's performance against Luke Humphries on New Year's Day. The tenth seed dropped his level a little after winning a tight opening set, but reeled off the final four sets of the match to send the 2024 World Champion packing, averaging around 111 for the final three sets.
Gary Anderson Form
After a few early exits at the Alexandra Palace, Gary Anderson has rolled back the years with a thrilling run to his seventh semi-final.
Following a fractious opening match with Adam Hunt, "The Flying Scotsman" played superbly when seeing off Connor Scutt and Jermaine Wattimena. The 55-year-old then took advantage of some wayward darts from Michael van Gerwen to send the former three-time World Champion home, recording a 4-1 victory over his old foe.
Justin Hood provided a very different kind of challenge in the quarter-finals. "Happy Feet" did well to keep up with Anderson in the early stages, but at 2-2, the 14th seed turned on the afterburners, winning nine of the last ten legs of the match, recording a 107 average over the final three sets.
Verdict
This is going to be a fantastic match, and I could see it being somewhat of a "changing of the guard" moment.
Gary Anderson has played every bit as well as GIAN VAN VEEN has in this year's tournament. Yet, that superb win over Luke Humphries will give "The Giant" an extra shot of confidence, and I fancy he'll come through a tight game with the former two-time World Champion.
