Aurora Gaming have met and beaten 9z Team twice since June, so it's no surprise they’re viewed as favourites to handle the business on Wednesday.
In addition to holding a head-to-head lead, Aurora Gaming have shown excellent form ahead of the TP World Championship, recently placing third in the ESL Pro League Season 24.
9z Team have found some success earlier in the year, but have been largely disappointing over the last three months, struggling to make much of an impact in their competitive endeavours. And with underwhelming performances against other top-tier teams, 9z appear highly unlikely to challenge Aurora.

9z Team Are in Iffy Shape
9z Team made quite a noise this summer, reaching the quarterfinals of Intel Extreme Masters Cologne Major and winning XSE Pro League.
However, since then, they’ve struggled to leave a positive impression, with early exits from the Esports World Cup (17th-24th), BLAST Open Fall (13th-16th), FISSURE Playground #3 (ninth-12th), and ESL Pro League Season 24 (ninth-11th).
The South American squad have won just three matches over a 12-game stretch, and even those came against BetBoom Team, TYLOO, and 5star eSports, so it is not like they’ve beaten any notable opponents.
9z Team haven't produced results strong enough to suggest they can make it far at the Thunderpick World Championship 2026.

Aurora Gaming Are in Excellent Form
Aurora Gaming have been gaining serious momentum in the last two months. After an underwhelming display at BLAST Open Fall in August, Aurora have turned on their jets and finished second in StarLadder StarSeries Fall and third in ESL Pro League Season 24.
Over that stretch, Aurora Gaming have taken some big scalps, beating the likes of Natus Vincere, Team Vitality, FURIA, and Team Spirit.
They also handled 9z Team quite easily just over a week ago, so Aurora should feel confident in their chances of winning on Wednesday.

Verdict
Aurora Gaming are one of the most in-form teams attending the Thunderpick World Championship, and they have not long ago beaten 9z Team. So even though 9z have a bite to them and are known as a squad who can punch up, it is hard to make a solid case for the underdogs.
Aurora Gaming have been handling teams much stronger than 9z of late, making Wednesday’s game appear like a walk in the park for them.
