Karmine Corp enter the match as favourites, having produced some very promising performances this season. However, their success has been limited to regular seasons, as Karmine Corp have consistently struggled to deliver in LEC playoffs.
This raises important questions such as whether Karmine Corp will struggle to perform on the biggest stage. Meanwhile, Cloud9 looked mediocre for most of 2026, but improved in the final split, producing performances that should make them a threat to anyone.
Like with KC, Cloud9 have some question marks above them, including whether they can keep playing at that level or whether their best games of LCS Summer Playoffs were nothing more than a flash in the pan.
- Cloud9 have potential
- Karmine Corp are known to choke
- A close game is not unlikely

Cloud9 Are Showing Glimpses of Greatness
Cloud9 finished the LoL Championship Series (LCS) Summer in third place, after finally getting the better of LYON in the upper bracket semifinals. While they’ve had a mediocre regular season, Cloud9 seem to have changed their approach to games, and it worked, but they couldn’t quite get to the top of the NA league, eventually settling for a bronze medal.
Cloud9 have had some excellent showings in the LCS Summer Playoffs, which were good enough to believe that they can do some damage at LoL Worlds. As it appears, C9 have started to peak at the right time, but they remain somewhat inconsistent.
If Cloud9 can show the same form they have in some of the better series of LCS playoffs, they could be potent. If they return to their old ways, an early elimination is likely on the cards for them.

Karmine Corp Can Deliver
Karmine Corp finished the LoL EMEA Championship in third place, despite looking like Europe’s best team for most of the season.
They arguably were LEC’s top squad, but only during the regular season, as KC have consistently struggled to make it past G2 Esports, which effectively prevented them from claiming the tag of LEC’s undisputed best team.
This raises some important questions, namely whether Karmine Corp are simply incapable of delivering on big stages and whether nerves are getting to them. If that’s the case, a deep run at LoL Worlds is not achievable, even though the raw quality is there.

Verdict
Cloud9 are an interesting team, as they’ve been middling for most of 2026, but then showed a lot of good things in the LCS Summer Playoffs. If they managed to recreate those performances at LoL Worlds, Cloud9 will have a realistic chance of reaching the playoffs, but that’s again one big WHAT IF.
Karmine Corp, on the other hand, have been excellent, but only during the regular season, suggesting there is some mental block preventing them from delivering in key games.
From many angles, this looks closer to a 50/50 game.
Karmine Corp, on the other hand, have been excellent, but only during the regular season, suggesting there is some mental block preventing them from delivering in key games.
So the two real questions for this game are whether Cloud9 can play as well as they did in LCS Summer Playoffs and whether Karmine Corp can overcome their demons and deliver when it matters.
From many angles, this looks closer to a 50/50 game.
