Both teams rebuilt their rosters for the 2026 season, and they’ve both done a good job forming lineups that can make noise in the LoL Pro League (LPL).

Weibo Gaming have acquired more established players, and are viewed as the stronger team. However, form-wise, LNG Esports come out ahead, having shown excellent performances over the last five outings.

On paper, Weibo Gaming are better. However, it is hard to look past the momentum LNG Esports have accumulated.

Weibo Gaming Have to Find Traction

Weibo Gaming freshened up their LoL division before the 2026 season with a new top laner, jungler, ADC, and support. While they took some risks, this roster has a very high ceiling, and it should make Weibo Gaming an interesting team to follow in 2026.

Despite all the talent, however, Weibo Gaming have gotten off to a shaky start to their Demacia Cup campaign. They defeated JD Gaming 2-1, but got smoked by Oh My God on Saturday, which is not the most inspiring result.

Admittedly, two games are not enough to judge a team, but Weibo Gaming will need more time to get their wheels spinning.

Weibo Gaming Squad & Team News

Weibo Gaming have replaced most of their roster for the 2026 season and have their full lineup available for Demacia Cup.

Tang "Zika" Huayu - top lane
Zhao "Jiejie" Lijie - jungle
Li "Xiaohu" Yuanhao - mid lane
Zhao "Elk" Jiahao - ADC
Shi "Erha" Xunye - support

LNG Esports Are in Excellent Form

LNG Esports rebuilt their LoL roster from scratch for the 2026 season and formed quite a formidable lineup.

While there is a lack of superstar names, besides support MISSING, LNG’s lineup does have the potential to contest top placements in the LPL, and they have an excellent chance to start the season with a deep run at the Demacia Cup.

LNG started their Demacia Cup campaign in the first stage, which was nothing more than a warm-up for this new-look roster. They cruised into the second group stage, beating Ultra Prime, FRK, and Team WE, and added a 2-0 sweep of JD Gaming in Group Stage 2.

While there were some hiccups, those were to be expected with a new lineup. And while LNG Esports do not appear to be at 100% power yet, they are getting there.

LNG Esports Squad & Team News

LNG Esports enter the 2026 season with a new roster.

Xu "sheer" Wenjie - top lane
Kim "Croco" Dong-beom - jungle
Lee "BuLLDoG" Tae-young - mid lane
Li "1xn" Xiunan - ADC
Lou "MISSING" Yunfeng - support

Verdict

LNG Esports v Weibo Gaming

On paper, Weibo Gaming appear to be a stronger team; however, they have yet to show that. Admittedly, WBG have played just two games this tournament, so it is not fair to make any conclusions, but they looked poor in their loss to Oh My God.

LNG Esports do not have as many games under their belts either, but they have gone 5-0 at Demacia Cup, despite fielding an entirely new roster. With momentum on their side, LNG are more than capable of upsetting Weibo Gaming.
