Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is set for drama, with Switzerland established as clear favorites thanks to a strong squad and recent international form. Canada could capitalize on home advantage for a strong start, but beating Switzerland may be a challenge. Bosnia and Herzegovina, rejuvenated after a playoff win over Italy, aim for the Round of 32 but may not advance further. Qatar, coming off a disappointing 2022, are likely to exit at the group stage again. The smart money is on Switzerland to top the group.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner and Group B is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing clusters of the opening round.

Featuring a co-host with a point to prove and a consistent European powerhouse, this group is set to be a battle of contrasting styles.

Switzerland are deserved favourites to top Group B. They have the strongest squad with a top quality spine including Gregor Kobel, Manuel Akanji, Granit Xhaka and Breel Embolo.

Embolo scored four goals in the qualifiers, two more than anyone else, and the striker is in line to bag more goals for his nation.

Competing in their sixth straight World Cup and reaching the quarter-finals at the previous two European Championships, hopes are high for a deep run in 2026.
Canada have lost all six matches at the World Cup but have the benefit of playing on home soil in 2026. They begin against Bosnia & Herzegovina & Qatar before a showdown against Switzerland.

Jesse Marsch's side have the ability to win their opening two matches, but beating the Swiss side in Vancouver could prove a step too far.
Bosnia and Herzegovina secured a ticked to the World Cup after a playoff win over Italy. They will hope to maintain the momentum under former captain Sergej Barbarez.

Veteran striker Edin Dzeko will lead the line and has a great chance to add to his 73 international goals. The Dragons have a good chance to escape a weak group but are likely to be eliminated in the round of 32.
Qatar lost all three matches on home soil in 2022 and another group stage exit is expected in 2026. Akram Afif and Almoez Ali are more than capable of scoring goals, but defence is the big question mark.

Julen Lopetegui's side start their campaign against Group B favourites Switzerland which could set the tone for their tournament.

Verdict

Switzzerland have the best team in Group B and can overcome hosts Canada to take top spot.

Breel Embolo is the undisputed starter up front for the Swiss side and can bag the most goals for his nation.

Bosnia & Herzegovina can qualify in third spot but are likely to get knocked out in the round of 32.
