Adelaide United vs Cong An Ha Noi Predictions

Adelaide United host Vietnamese champions Cong An Ha Noi in a one-off AFC Champions League Elite playoff on Tuesday.

Both teams possess plenty of attacking quality, and a high-scoring outcome is expected.

I have my stake on over 2.5 goals scored at Coopers Stadium.

BTTS Expected at Coopers Stadium

  • Adelaide United have seen BTTS in 10 of their last 11 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Adelaide United scored 1+ goals in 17 of their last 18 matches
  • Cong An Ha Noi have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 16 matches (competitive fixtures)
  • Cong An Ha Noi scored an average of 2.12 goals per game in their last 8 matches

Adelaide United and Cong An Ha Noi Set For First Competitive Meeting

Adelaide United and Cong An Ha Noi will meet for the first time on Tuesday.

The one-off playoff contest will decide which team progresses to the AFC Champions League Elite league stage.

Adelaide United Suffer Australia Cup Shock

Adelaide United return to Coopers Stadium after suffering a shock 2-1 defeat against South Melbourne in the Australia Cup.

Craig Goodwin gave the Reds an early lead before goals from Bul Juach and Yuki Uchida completed a surprise comeback victory for the NPL Victoria side.

Airton Andrioli’s men enjoyed a strong 2025/26 A-League campaign, finishing second in the regular-season standings with 43 points from 26 matches.

Their hopes of winning a first A-League Championship since 2016 ended with a 4-1 aggregate defeat against Auckland in the semi-finals.

The Reds remain in the early stages of pre-season, having returned to training at the beginning of July. Andrioli’s side claimed a 5-0 win against The Cove and a 2-0 victory at Playford City in their opening warm-up fixtures.

Tuesday’s contest will be Adelaide’s first continental match since facing Jiangsu Suning in the AFC Champions League in May 2017.

Usually a reliable choice for BTTS backers, 17 of Adelaide’s last 20 matches finished with both teams scoring.

Cong An Ha Noi Return to Action

Cong An Ha Noi travel to Australia for their first competitive fixture since a 1-0 defeat against The Cong-Viettel on the final day of the Vietnamese season two months ago.

Mano Polking’s side finished the campaign as V.League champions after finishing ten points clear of their nearest rivals.

The Vietnamese side enjoyed a superb campaign, scoring an average of over two goals per game. Cong An Ha Noi won 20 and lost just two of 26 league fixtures.

Competing in the AFC Elite playoffs for the first time in their history, Cong An Ha Noi performed well in last season's AFC Two competition. Polking’s men reached the round of sixteen before a 6-1 aggregate defeat against Tampines Rovers.

Five of Cong An Ha Noi’s eight continental fixtures last season finished with BTTS.

Adelaide United vs Cong An Ha Noi Team News

Adelaide United: (4-3-3) Joshua Smits; Jay Barnett, Bart Vriends, Panagiotis Kikianis, Fabian Talladira; Ryan White, Luke Duzel, Ethan Alagich; Jonny Yull, Juan Muniz, Craig Goodwin.

Head coach Andrioli could make changes following the disappointing cup defeat against South Melbourne.

Luka Jovanovic is expected to lead the Adelaide attack on Tuesday.

Cong An Ha Noi: (4-2-3-1) Filip Nguyen; Vu Van Thanh, Bui Hoang Viet Anh, Frans Putros, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh; Damia Sabater, Stefan Mauk; Nguyen Quang Hai, Leo Artur, Nguyen Dinh Bac; Alan Grafite

Head coach Mano Polking has seven new faces available for Tuesday’s crunch AFC Elite playoff. Damia Sabater, Y Eli Nie, David Henen, Dinh Thanh Binh, Phan Ngoc Tin, Brayan Perea and Frans Putros are available to make their competitive debuts for the visitors.

Former Adelaide midfielder Stefan Mauk should feature alongside captain Nguyen Quang Hai in midfield.

Alan Grafite is likely to lead the attack after scoring 17 goals across all competitions last season.

Verdict

Adelaide United have home advantage but looked defensively vulnerable during their surprise Australia Cup defeat against South Melbourne.

I have my stake on BTTS in Tuesday’s AFC Elite Champions League playoff.
