Atletico San Luis vs Guadalajara Predictions & Tips - BTTS Tipped in Liga MX Contest

Atletico San Luis face Guadalajara in an evenly matched Liga MX battle. Both sides have struggled for clean sheets and shown high-scoring potential, with previous meetings supporting BTTS (Both Teams to Score) and over 2.5 goals as strong predictions. San Luis are buoyed by a rare win at Monterrey, but Chivas are on a five-game unbeaten streak. Team news suggests few changes to both starting XIs. The key recommendation is to back both teams to find the net, with plenty of goals likely at the Estadio Alfonso Lastras.

Atletico San Luis vs Guadalajara Predictions

Atletico San Luis return to action on Saturday, looking to build on an impressive 3-1 victory at Monterrey.

With Chivas also in decent form, a competitive encounter should see chances at both ends.

BTTS is my best bet, with a minimum of three match goals likely at Estadio Alfonso Lastras.

BTTS Backed in Liga MX Contest

  • Atletico San Luis have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 9 matches
  • Guadalajara have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in their last 3 matches against Atletico San Luis
  • Guadalajara have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 7 matches

Atletico San Luis and Guadalajara Level in Recent H2H

Atletico San Luis and Guadalajara have met on 13 occasions since 2020. Both teams won five of those matches, while three games finished deadlocked.

Chivas have had the better of the two most recent encounters, recording a thrilling 4-3 home victory last July before a 3-2 win at Estadio Alfonso Lastras in January.

Atletico San Luis Claim First Win

Atletico San Luis return home in high spirits after claiming their first Liga MX victory of the season at Monterrey last weekend.

David Rodríguez gave Diego Mejía’s men a fifth-minute lead before Rafa Llorente doubled their advantage before half-time. Monterrey pulled one back through Hugo Cuypers, but Óscar Macías struck late to complete a superb 3-1 road victory.

The scoreline somewhat flattered San Luis, who had only 28% possession and were outshot 26-9. Monterrey also posted an xG of 2.00 compared with 1.19 for the visitors.

Before last weekend’s surprise victory, San Luis had failed to win their first five Liga MX matches of the new season, and any of their eight most recent competitive fixtures.

Defensively insecure, Atletico conceded two goals or more in six of their last nine games, with just one clean sheet kept in that period. The hosts leaked an average of 2.5 goals per game across those nine matches.

Still in the early stages of the new season, San Luis sit 13th in the division with only six points picked up.

Guadalajara Extend Unbeaten Run

Guadalajara make the trip to San Luis after extending their unbeaten Liga MX run to five matches with a 1-1 draw at Pachuca.

Roberto Alvarado gave Chivas the perfect start with his fourth league goal of the season after only three minutes, but Salomon Rondon’s late penalty denied Gabriel Milito’s side all three points.

A share of the spoils proved a fair outcome, with both teams registering an xG of 1.51.

The in-form visitors won three successive fixtures before Sunday’s share of the spoils at Estadio Miguel Hidalgo. Chivas scored eight goals in those victories, including a thumping 5-2 win against Tijuana.

Since an opening day defeat against Toluca, Milito’s men have enjoyed a solid run, winning four and losing just one of eight matches across all competitions.

Like the home side, clean sheets have proven elusive for Guadalajara. The visitors conceded at least one goal in ten of 13 competitive fixtures since May.

Six games into the Liga MX season, Chivas sit fifth in the division with 11 points on the board.

Atletico San Luis vs Guadalajara Team News

Atletico San Luis: (5-4-1) Andres Sanchez; Eduardo Aguila, Robson Bambu, Miguel Garcia, Anderson Duarte, Roman Torres; Johan Caicedo, Oscar Macias, Sebastien Salles-Lamonge, David Rodriguez; Rafa Llorente

San Luis boss Mejia is likely to stick with the same XI that started last weekend’s impressive victory at Monterrey.

Leonardo Flores could come into contention after a goal-scoring substitute appearance at Estadio BBVA.

Cesar Lopez and Joao Pedro remain sidelined with serious knee injuries, while Juanpe and Jesus Medina are also likely to miss out for the home side.

Guadalajara: (3-4-2-1) Raul Rangel; Miguel Gomez, Diego Campillo, Luis Romo; Santiago Sandoval, Omar Govea, Fernando Gonzalez, Hugo Camberos; Roberto Alvarado, Efrain Alvarez; Ricardo Marin

Guadalajara head coach Milito has three potential absentees this weekend. Bryan Gonzalez, Daniel Aguirre and Jose Castillo are expected to remain sidelined with muscular injuries.

Richard Ledezma returned to the squad against Pachuca and should again be available.

Verdict

Atletico will take confidence from their superb win at Monterrey, but Guadalajara are tough opponents for the home side.

With previous meetings pointing towards the goal markets, I'm putting my faith in BTTS, while I also have a stake on over 2.5 goals.
