Ipswich and Liverpool begin the new Premier League campaign with both teams in impressive goal-scoring form, though each has also shown vulnerability in defense. This exciting matchup offers strong value for the BTTS (Both Teams To Score) and over 2.5 goals bet at odds of 1.85. For those seeking greater risk and reward, backing over 3.5 goals at 2.21 is also recommended. Expect attacking football, defensive frailties, and plenty of action in what promises to be a thrilling season opener.

Ipswich vs Liverpool Preview

Ipswich score in most games and rarely keep clean sheets. Liverpool are struggling for defensive structure early in 2026/27 and a Premier League high-scorer is anticipated.

Key Stats - Ipswich Are BTTS Regulars

  • Ipswich have seen BTTS in 4 consecutive games.
  • Ipswich have seen over 3.5 goals in their last 2 matches.
  • Liverpool have seen over 3.5 goals in 2 consecutive games.

H2H

Liverpool have a 39-14 advantage against Ipswich, alongside 21 draws.

Ipswich High-Scoring in 2026/27

Ipswich know how to find the net at Portman Road and have scored in 20 consecutive home matches.

Gary O’Neil’s side showed their attacking quality in a recent six-match winning streak in all competitions. The Tractor Boys won four friendlies in a row, scoring seven, before a 2-1 Premier League home win over Hull.

The Suffolk outfit extended their winning run with a 3-1 home triumph against Leicester. Ipswich had 15 shots and allowed 1.88 XG.

O’Neil’s side couldn’t maintain momentum and lost 5-2 at Man United. Leif Davis scored first and United hit back with five goals before Chuba Akpom scored in the 91st minute.

Liverpool Lacking Defensive Quality

Liverpool are in transition under new head coach Andoni Iraola. The Reds are winless in five of their eight games since Iraola’s arrival and have conceded 13 goals.

The Merseyside team have long-term defensive issues in the Premier League. They have seen BTTS in eight consecutive games and conceded 15.

The Reds continued their high-scoring streak early in the 2026/27 season. Iraola’s side opened their campaign with a 2-2 draw at Newcastle.

Another 2-2 stalemate followed against Nottingham Forest at home. Liverpool allowed 1.75 XG and goals from Alexander Isak and Victor Munoz helped the Reds come from behind twice.

Emmerson is an injury doubt after coming off at half time at Man United due to a knee issue. Gary O’Neil was unsure about the extent of the striker’s injury and said, “It was like a landing and a jarring of the knee. It was a bit too painful for him to carry on.”

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Jeremie Frimpong, Jeremy Jacquet, Virgil van Dijk, Milos Kerkez; Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister; Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Victor Munoz; Alexander Isak

The winger provided a recent fitness update and said, “I worked hard during the holidays, I did everything I could to stay fit as much as possible, so I feel ready already.”

Verdict

Ipswich and Liverpool have started the season in high-scoring form and both sides let in plenty of goals. BTTS and over 2.5 goals has good value in this Premier League clash.
