Brisbane Roar vs Auckland FC Verdict


Brisbane Roar are value to pick up a second win on the season at home to Auckland, who were heavily beaten on the road last week. Both sides can score, but it is Brisbane who are backed to take the points.

It was a nightmare end to last term as the Roar failed to win any of their last 12 games.

However, Michael Valkanis' side have a new philosophy from some of the antics of last season and produced a superb performance to conquer Perth 2-1 in their opening game last week.

Brisbane adopted a more attacking and free-flowing brand of football and were rewarded with all three points as Nam Tae-hee and Justin Vidic got on the scoresheet.

The Roar still looked vulnerable at the back and Perth should have equalised more than once, but for now, their improvement in the final third will please fans.

Auckland FC Form

Mixed start to the season for the reigning premiers.

Auckland were on fire to open the campaign with a 3-1 win over Melbourne City at home, with new signing Lachie Baylis bagging a brace.

However, Pedro Moreira's side were brought crashing back down to earth last week, suffering a heavy 5-2 loss away to the Wanderers.

The Black Knights couldn't get into the game with just 38 per cent of possession and were ultimately blown away.
