Hearts welcome Rangers to Tynecastle in the Scottish Premiership, with the main tip being both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. Hearts have seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals in six of their last nine domestic fixtures, averaging 3.36 goals per game in their last 11 matches. Rangers have also featured in high-scoring contests, with BTTS and over 2.5 goals landing in four of their last five meetings with Hearts. Both teams come into this match after convincing wins, suggesting another open, attacking encounter.

Hearts vs Rangers Predictions

Hearts welcome Rangers to Tynecastle on Wednesday in an intriguing Scottish Premiership contest.

The visitors arrive in Edinburgh after a convincing 4-0 win against St Johnstone, while Hearts responded to a difficult week by beating Motherwell on Sunday.

An entertaining contest should see BTTS and over 2.5 goals land at Tynecastle.

Entertaining Encounter Expected in Edinburgh

  • Hearts have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 9 matches (domestic fixtures)
  • Hearts have seen an average of 3.36 goals per game in their last 11 matches
  • Rangers have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches against Hearts
  • Rangers have seen BTTS & over 2.5 goals in 2 of their last 3 matches

Rangers Dominate H2H Record

Hearts and Rangers have met on 23 occasions since 2020. Rangers won 15 of those games, while Hearts picked up four victories. Four matches finished level.

Hearts claimed a 2-1 victory at Tynecastle in their most recent encounter in May.

Hearts Return to Winning Ways at Motherwell

Hearts return to Tynecastle after a much-needed 2-0 win at Motherwell on Sunday.

Claudio Braga headed the visitors ahead in the first half before substitute Calvin Miller sealed the points with an excellent late strike.

The final scoreline was a little flattering for the Jambos in a hard-fought contest. Motherwell registered more shots (17-14) and a higher xG total (1.81-1.57), but Beau Reus made several important saves as Hearts secured a welcome clean sheet.

Wouter Vrancken's side had endured a miserable week before their success in Lanarkshire. Hearts suffered a 7-1 defeat at Celtic in their previous Premiership fixture before a 2-0 loss at Trabzonspor in the Conference League last week.

Despite recent setbacks, Hearts remain third in the Premiership with 19 points from ten games.

The Jambos have been particularly strong at Tynecastle this season, winning all four of their home Premiership fixtures, including an emphatic 5-0 win against St Mirren in their most recent outing.

Hearts also claimed victories in both home fixtures against Rangers last season.

Rangers Cruise Past St Johnstone

Rangers head to Edinburgh in high spirits after an impressive 4-0 victory against St Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday.

Kevin Kelsy bagged a double while Ryan Naderi and substitute Tochi Chukwuani also got their names on the scoresheet.

Derek McInnes' side proved justified winners despite a somewhat flattering final scoreline at Ibrox.

The Glasgow giants registered 21 shots to nine and recorded an xG total of 4.20 compared with the visitors' 0.62.

The result made it seven wins in eight Premiership matches for the in-form Glasgow side. Rangers had suffered a blow to their title chances with a frustrating 2-2 draw at Dundee before Saturday's success at Ibrox.

Rangers now sit second in the Premiership with 23 points from ten league fixtures, four behind Celtic.

On the road, the Gers failed to keep a clean sheet in three of five Premiership games this season.

Past contests against the Jambos point to a likely competitive and entertaining encounter. An average of 3.12 goals per game were scored in their last eight meetings.

Hearts vs Rangers Team News

Hearts: (3-4-2-1) Beau Reus; Malachi Walcott, Jamie McCart, Stephen Kingsley, Rogers Mato; Tomas Magnusson, Jordi Altena; Sabah Kerjota, Josh McPake, James Wilson, Claudio Braga.

Head coach Vrancken has several expected absentees this week. Eduardo Ageu remains sidelined, while Tom Renaud, Craig Halkett, Harry Milne, Blair Spittal, Oisin McEntee and Christian Borchgrevink missed Sunday’s win at Motherwell.

Stuart Findlay is back in contention but requires a late fitness check.

In-form winger Calvin Miller is pushing for a start after scoring from the bench against Motherwell. The former Falkirk winger has scored seven goals in 20 appearances this season.

"I think it was a massive victory, a massive three points.

"After the long travel and the massive game we played on Thursday, with only two days' rest, battling together and fighting together like this, I was happy to see it.

"There were moments where we played well but also moments, because of the circumstances, where it wasn't possible to have quality in the game; then you have to fight together.

“In these moments, you have to fight for a clean sheet also. I'm happy the players rewarded themselves today.”

Rangers: (4-2-3-1) Ivor Pandur; Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Olwethu Makhanya, James Penrice; Nicolas Raskin, Dan Neil; Badredine Bouanani, Ryan Naderi, Min-su Kim, Kevin Kelsy.

Rangers boss McInnes is likely to retain confidence in the same side that put four past St Johnstone. Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi will continue to lead the line after both got on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Youssef Chermiti, Lawrence Shankland, Daisuke Yokota and John Souttar remain long-term absentees for the visitors.

"The conditions were tough. The pitch held up brilliantly.

"First half we were very good. The only frustration was we took too long to get the first goal, and we should be more than a goal to the good at half-time.

"We didn't want to let that frustration get the better of us. St Johnstone changed their approach, played forward quicker, and we looked a bit slow to get going.

"The scoreline was just about right because of chances created. It's a learning curve for us. It's hard to maintain levels, but the first half was as good as we've been for a while.”

Verdict

Both teams have reason to be optimistic, and I expect a back-and-forth battle with plenty of chances at both ends.

I have my stake on BTTS and over 2.5 goals scored at Tynecastle.
