Cameroon and DR Congo are set to face off in a match anticipated to end in a draw after 90 minutes, with predictions favoring a 1-1 scoreline. Played at a neutral venue in Morocco, both teams exhibit strong defensive performances, keeping goal counts low in recent qualifiers. Cameroon looks to leverage the recent form of forward Bryan Mbeumo, while DR Congo banks on a strong midfield lineup. Key stats highlight Cameroon's past success over DR Congo, yet each team's form and strategic play will be crucial to watch.

Cameroon vs DR Congo Predictions

Cameroon's form away from home in the group stage was patchy but this is a neutral venue (Morocco). It should be a tight contest, one which I see ending in a draw after 90 minutes.

Stats

  • Cameroon have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 3 World Cup qualifiers.
  • Cameroon have seen BTTS No in their last 4 World Cup qualifiers.
  • Cameroon have won 8 of their 13 matches against DR Congo.
  • DR Congo have seen under 1.5 goals in their last 2 World Cup qualifiers.
  • DR Congo have won 3 of their last 4 World Cup qualifiers.

Head to Head

Cameroon have won eight of their 13 matches against DR Congo, losing just one (1998) along with four draws.

Cameroon Form

Cameroon finished second in Group D of the African FIFA World Cup qualifiers, four points behind Cape Verde and three and head of Libya. They won five, drew four and lost one of their 10 group matches.

Throughout the campaign, Cameroon’s inconsistency was a concern as they are a regular at World Cup campaigns. However, they kept their chances alive with two wins and a draw in their last four matches.

The run began with a 3-0 home win over Eswatini before losing 1-0 at Cape Verde. That result all but sealed the Indomitable Lions fate.

A 2-0 win away to Mauritius proved to be the key result which secured second place. In the final game, Cameroon drew 0-0 at home to Angola.

Cameroon Squad & Team News

Goalkeepers: Devis Epassy, Simon Omossola, André Onana
Defenders: Malcolm Bokele, Enzo Boyomo, Jean-Charles Castelletto, Mahamadou Nagida, Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, Jackson Tchatchoua, Nouhou Tolo, Darlin Yongwa
Midfielders: Arthur Avom, Carlos Baleba, Martin Hongla, Daniel Namaso, Yvan Neyou, Jean Onana, Wilitty Younoussa, Franck Zambo Anguissa
Forwards: Vincent Aboubakar, Christian Bassogog, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting, Karl Etta Eyong, Frank Magri, Bryan Mbeumo, Georges-Kévin Nkoudou, Patrick Soko

Bryan Mbeumo has scored four goals in his last four matches for club side, Manchester United. Cameroon will largely rely on the big forward to offer a goal threat.

DR Congo Form

DR Congo just missed out on automatic World Cup qualification, ending second to Senegal in Group B. It was a strong campaign, winning seven of their 10 matches with a draw and two defeats.

Four of their last five qualifiers ended in victories with one loss. After a dominant 4-1 win against South Sudan, DR Congo suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Senegal, who went on to qualify automatically.

That was followed by successive 1-0 victories to end their campaign. The first one was away to Togo before Theo Bongonda sealed a 1-0 home win against Sudan on the final day.
