Chennaiyin vs SC Delhi Predictions & Tips - Delhi Tipped to Avoid ISL Defeat

Chennaiyin are set to face SC Delhi amid ongoing struggles in the ISL, having failed to secure wins in their last 11 matches and struggling notably in home games. Despite having a slight historical edge in head-to-head matches against Delhi, the Chennai-based team is seen as unlikely to overcome Delhi's currently improving form. SC Delhi has shown significant improvement, climbing in rankings and showing resilience in recent matches. The upcoming game sees Delhi as the favored side, either for a win or a draw.

Chennaiyin vs SC Delhi Predictions

Chennaiying remain short in confidence, and they seem unlikely to overcome an improving SC Delhi side. An away win or draw stands out as the best value pick on Friday.

SC Delhi in Better Form

  • Chennaiyin failed to win 10 of their last 11 matches
  • Chennaiyin failed to win 4 of their last 5 home matches against SC Delhi
  • SC Delhi are unbeaten in their last 4 matches

Chennaiyin Edge SC Delhi in H2H Record

Chennaiyin and SC Delhi have met on 13 previous occasions. Chennaiyin won six games while Delhi secured four victories.

Chennaiyin Struggles Continue

Chennaiyin face a fourth successive ISL home fixture after back-to-back defeats in the past ten days.  Clifford Miranda's side slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Inter Kashi before a 3-1 reversal against East Bengal.

Chennaiyin face a fourth successive ISL home fixture after back-to-back defeats in the past ten days. Clifford Miranda's side slipped to a 2-1 loss against Inter Kashi before a 3-1 reversal against East Bengal.

The Marina Machans struggled defensively in their latest defeat, conceding 22 shots against an in-form East Bengal. Goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz was forced into eight saves to prevent a heavier loss at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Yet to find consistency this season, Chennaiyin have failed to win six of their last seven ISL fixtures, including all three home matches. A poor record in Chennai has seen the hosts win just three of their last 15 league games since the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Placed 12th in the 14-team division, the Marina Machans have not won a home match since March 2025.

SC Delhi Pick Up The Pace

SC Delhi make the long trip to Chennai with renewed confidence after an impressive 3-0 win at NorthEast United last week. After a goalless first half, the Phoenix turned on the style after the break with Joseph Sunny bagging twice before Mohammed Aimen put the seal on a fine road victory.

In an evenly balanced contest, Tomasz Tchorz's side proved clinical in front of goal, scoring three times from just 11 shots and posting a final xG of 1.56.

After losing their first three ISL fixtures this season, SC have improved significantly in the past month. The Phoenix picked up eight points from four unbeaten matches (W2, D2).

On the road, Tchorz's men also earned a creditable 2-2 draw at unbeaten league leaders Mumbai City last month.

Up to ninth in the ISL, Delhi sit three points ahead of Chennaiyin coming into Friday's ISL contest.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Chennaiyin (4-1-4-1) Mohammad Nawaz; Laldinpuia PC, Pritam Kotal, Eduardo Kau, Mandar Rao Desai; Mohamed Ali Bemammer; Imran Khan, Maheson Tongbram Singh, Alberto Noguera, Farukh Choudhary; Irfan Yadwad.

Head coach Miranda is likely to make one or two changes to his selection this week. Mohamed Ali Bemammer is set to start after replacing Elsinho just ten minutes into the defeat against East Bengal.

Laldinpuia PC could come into the defence following his second-half introduction for Laldinliana Renthlei.

SC Delhi (4-3-3) Nora Fernandes; Lamgoulen Gou Hangshing, Rafael Ribeiro, Alex Saji, Manoj Mohammad; Rooney, Ousmane Fane, Augustine Lalrochana; Joseph Sunny, Devendra Murgaokar, Mohammed Aimen.

Delhi boss Tchorz is likely to name the same side that started last week's win at NorthEast.

Mohammed Rafi is the only confirmed injury absentee for the away side.

Verdict

Delhi have found some fine form in recent weeks, while Chennaiyin continue to struggle in home fixtures. I have my stake on the visitors to win or draw at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
