Northern Irish side Coleraine were in decent pre-season form ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. 

The Bannsiders won five of their six friendly matches and completed pre-season with a 3-0 home victory over Portadown. 

Ruaidhrí Higgins’ team couldn’t carry that momentum into Europe and lost 5-0 at HJK. Coleraine faced nine shots on target, were 2-0 down at half time and shipped three in the second period.

HJK’s recent form has picked up following three consecutive wins in all competitions. Teemu Pukki has scored three goals in that period. 

The Finnish outfit started their winning streak with a 2-1 league victory against VPS, where Pukki scored the winner. 

Joonas Rantanen’s side then thumped Coleraine 5-0 in the Conference League Qualifier first leg. Helsinki had 61% possession and Pukki scored twice after coming on as a substitute. 

Klubi continued their upturn in form with a 1-0 home victory against TPS Turku. HJK allowed 0.74 XG and Santeri Haarala struck after 16 minutes.
