Crystal Palace and Man City are both showing defensive weaknesses ahead of their Premier League encounter at Selhurst Park. With both teams likely to concede, the forecast is for a high-scoring affair. Recommended bets include Over 2.5 goals and Both Teams to Score. Erling Haaland is tipped as a key attacking threat and good value to find the net, with additional potential in backing him to score multiple goals.

Crystal Palace vs Man City Preview

Crystal Palace and Man City have shipped a lot of goals in recent games and both sides are in transitional periods. Erling Haaland had chances against Bournemouth and can get back on the scoresheet in a high-scoring Premier League clash.

Key Stats - Citizens High-Scoring

  • Crystal Palace have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 games.
  • Man City have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 consecutive matches.
  • Man City’s Erling Haaland has scored 15 goals in his last 17 games for club and country.

H2H - Haaland In Form Against the Eagles

Man City have a 41-18 advantage against Crystal Palace, alongside 17 draws.

Erling Haaland has scored eight Premier League goals against Palace, including five at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace Look Unconvincing Under Sage

Crystal Palace appointed Pierre Sage as Oliver Glasner’s replacement in pre-season. The Eagles have struggled for form under their new boss, losing four and drawing one of nine matches.

Palace showed some positive signs after defeating Fulham 2-1 in a pre-season friendly. Sage’s side couldn’t maintain momentum and lost their final pre-season friendly 3-0 at Freiburg.

The south Londoners started the 2026/27 Premier League season with a 2-0 away defeat at Everton. Palace had 1.96 XG, hit the post twice and conceded either side of half time.

Maresca’s Man City Taking Time to Find Rhythm

Man City have had some patchy recent form under new manager Enzo Maresca. City have won three of their five matches, conceded seven goals and scored nine in that period.

The Manchester team looked good in back-to-back 3-1 friendly wins over K-League All Stars and Atletico Madrid. City had 38 shots across those two matches.

The Citizens followed that mini winning streak with a 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal, allowing 2.16 XG.

Maresca’s outfit recovered with a 2-1 comeback victory at home against Bournemouth in the Premier League. Erling Haaland had five shots, 0.74 XG and Marc Guehi and Joskov Gvardiol scored in the final 10 minutes.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Dean Henderson; Jaydee Canvot, Chris Richards, Axel Disasi; Daniel Munoz, Daichi Kamada, Adam Wharton, Tyrick Mitchell; Yeremy Pino, Eddie Nketiah; Jean-Philippe Mateta

Centre-back Chadi Riad is ruled out with a long-term knee injury.

Ismaila Sarr is also expected to miss the Man City match with a groin injury. Pierre Sage explained that the attacker needs more time to recover and said, "We'll prepare him - he needs time.

“I thought it would be quicker, but I am not medical [staff] - that's why I wait for him, and we'll prepare him to come back with us."

Man City (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Ruben Dias, Joskov Gvardiol; Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi; Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, Antoine Semenyo; Erling Haaland

Defender Matheus Nunes is unlikely to feature following a recent injury.

Jeremy Doku is also sidelined due to a calf problem. Enzo Maresca explained that the winger is expected to be unavailable for “two or three weeks."

Verdict

Crystal Palace and Man City look shaky in defence and goals are likely at Selhurst Park. Haaland is a constant attacking threat and can get on the scoresheet against Palace.
