Falkirk is set to challenge Rangers in a potentially high-scoring Premiership encounter. Both teams have shown a propensity for high-scoring matches, with recent performances suggesting that goals will flow on both sides. Falkirk, in form after securing a top-six finish, promises to give Rangers a tough test, who have struggled to keep clean sheets. The game promises to be entertaining, as both sides have consistently found the net in recent matches. The predictions suggest a dynamic match where both teams are expected to score.

Falkirk vs Rangers Predictions

Rangers can expect a stiff test against an impressive and tough-to-beat Falkirk. I have my stake on BTTS with the hosts more than capable of putting a dent in the Gers' title charge.

Goals Likely at Falkirk Stadium

  • Falkirk have seen BTTS in 6 of their last 7 matches
  • Falkirk scored an average of 1.62 goals per game in their last 16 home matches
  • Rangers have seen BTTS in 7 of their last 8 matches (Premiership)
  • Rangers scored an average of 1.6 goals per game in their last 15 away matches

Rangers Edge Falkirk in Recent H2H

Rangers and Falkirk have met on just four occasions since 2016. Rangers claimed victories in the League and Scottish Cup in 2016 and 2018 before the spoils were shared in both previous Premiership fixtures this season.

In-Form Falkirk Secure Top-Six Finish

Falkirk face the final fixture of the regular Premiership campaign after securing their place in the end-of-season top six split with a superb win at Motherwell last weekend.

In-form teenager forward Barney Stewart bagged for the fifth successive Premiership fixture as the Bairns became the first team to win at Fir Park this year.

John McGlynn's men were worthy winners in Lanarkshire. The Bairns registered 14 shots on the Motherwell goal, with an xG of 2.08, highlighting their impressive attacking display.

After back-to-back defeats against Dundee United and Hearts in February, Falkirk have enjoyed a solid run over the past month. McGlynn's side have won three and lost just one of their five most recent fixtures.

Frequently involved in high-scoring encounters at Falkirk Stadium, an average of 2.88 goals per game were scored in 16 home fixtures this season. BTTS landed in five of Falkirk's six previous home matches.

Rangers Edge Past Terrors

Rangers face the tricky trip to Falkirk Stadium after a well-deserved 4-2 win against Dundee United last weekend. Ryan Naderi and Thelo Aasgaard were on the scoresheet as the Gers eventually overcame their stubborn opponents at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl's side showed plenty of attacking quality in Glasgow while remaining defensively vulnerable. The Gers registered 21 shots and a final xG of 3.89. However, the visitors also had their moments, with 14 shots and two goals highlighting weaknesses in the home defence.

Those issues have been evident in the Glasgow giants' recent results. Rangers failed to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last eight Premiership fixtures. All seven games finished with both teams on the scoresheet.

On the road, the Glasgow giants have stumbled in recent weeks. Rohl's side were held to three successive away draws before a narrow win at St Mirren last month.

With just six games to play, Rangers sit second in the Premiership, one point behind Hearts and two clear of Celtic.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Falkirk (4-2-3-1) Scott Bain; Keelan Adams, Filip Lissah, Liam Henderson, Leon McCann; Brad Spencer, Dylan Tait; Ben Broggio, Calvin Miller, Finn Yeats; Barney Stewart.

Head coach McGlynn has some injury issues to deal with this weekend. Ethan Williams is ruled out, while Ross MacIver and Louis Marsh both face late fitness tests.

Speaking after the fine win at Motherwell, McGlynn expressed his pride after his side secured a top-six finish.

"It feels amazing (to secure top-six). "It was a little struggle to get over the line, but we certainly put on a great performance today. I'm so pleased and so proud of the players”

"We would never have thought we would have been just coming up from the Championship and having that quick step from League One into the Championship and then the Premiership"

"I can't speak highly enough of the players; they deserve to be there.”

Rangers (4-2-3-1) Jack Butland; Dujon Sterling, John Souttar, Nasser Djiga, Jayden Meghoma; Nicolas Raskin, Tochi Chukwuani; Andreas Skov Olsen, Thelo Aasgaard, Mikey Moore; Youssef Chermiti

Rangers boss Rohl is likely to make at least one change to his first XI this weekend. Ryan Naderi is set to miss out after picking up a knee injury in last week's win against Dundee United.

Belgian left-back Tuur Rommens remains sidelined with a muscle injury.

Head coach Rohl was thrilled with last week's important win agianst Dundee United.

“It feels good because we won the game today. This is a big compliment to my group. It shows a lot about the character, mentality and quality to win games.

"It's not just that we win games, but also we score a lot of goals as well. That's also a big compliment to the group.”

Verdict

Falkirk are more than capable of denting Rangers' title hopes in a likely entertaining Premiership contest. I'm confident both teams will score in Sunday's vital fixture in Scotland.
