Falkirk come into Wednesday’s Premiership encounter still searching for their first win of the league campaign after a narrow 2-1 defeat against Celtic on Saturday.
John McGlynn’s side found themselves two goals down inside 30 minutes at Parkhead following a Camilo Duran brace. A Colby Donovan own goal gave the visitors hope, but Falkirk were unable to find a leveller at Parkhead.
Despite the narrow scoreline, Celtic were largely dominant. The champions registered 19 efforts on goal, while Falkirk managed only five attempts and just one shot on target.
The Bairns have now picked up only one point from their opening three league fixtures. McGlynn’s men slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against St Mirren before earning a goalless draw at Motherwell.
A lack of quality in the final third remains the biggest concern for the home side. Donovan’s OG at Parkhead was their only goal in three Premiership contests this season.
Rangers Finally Get Off the Mark
Rangers make the trip to Falkirk after a much-needed 1-0 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.
Lawrence Shankland’s 69th-minute penalty proved decisive as Derek McInnes’s side collected their first Premiership win of the season.
The Dons saw a late equaliser ruled out following a VAR review as the Gers secured three valuable points at Pittodrie.
McInnes’s men were good value for their victory. Rangers registered 18 efforts to Aberdeen’s ten, enjoyed 56% possession and posted an xG of 1.94 compared with just 0.52 for the hosts.
Sunday’s result came on the back of last Thursday’s embarrassing Conference League elimination against Jablonec. Rangers missed out on European group/league phase football for the first time since 2017.
McInnes’s men have won three of their last four matches, but have struggled in the final third. The Gers scored one goal or less in seven of eight games played this season.

Ben Parkinson is expected to continue as the focal point in attack. The former Newcastle striker scored his first career goals in Falkirk’s easy win at Edinburgh City earlier this summer.
McGlynn praised his side following the narrow defeat to Parkhead on Saturday.
"We showed great character and team spirit.
"We've made 16 changes, and there might be one more to come. Very difficult bringing so many players in. Brad (Spencer) was outstanding today off the back of transfer speculation. I can see signs that we are getting there."

Rangers remain unable to call on long-term absentee Youssef Chermiti.
McInnes highlighted the impressive contribution of debutant Kim when speaking to the BBC after Sunday’s hard-fought win at Pittodrie.
“Contrasting feelings from Thursday night. It was a tough few days for us all. I thought today we were far more like the Rangers team I want us to be.
“(Kim Min-Su) coming in gives us a much-needed dose of quality. We’ve been searching for that for a while. We’ve waited a long time for him and been a bit frustrated we haven’t got him in quicker.”
