Montenegro struggled in their recent two games against the Czech Republic, losing both games without scoring. I am backing Croatia to extend their winning run on Monday and keep a clean sheet.

Croatia are off to a great start in the World Cup 2026 European qualifiers, grabbing nine points from three contests so far. 

The Blazers crushed Gibraltar 7-0 on the road in their first contest in June, Franjo Ivanovic and Andrej Kramaric scoring two goals each, Ivan Perisic, Ante Budimir and Mario Pasalic also on target.  

Three days later, they hosted Czech Republic in Osijek and won 5-1, Kramaric adding another brace to his name, Luka Modric, Perisic and Budimir also finding the net. 

Croatia made it three in a row on Friday, beating the Faroe Islands 1-0 on the road. Kramaric was the sole scorer in the first half. 

Montenegro Form 


Montenegro are currently occupying 3rd place in the WC 2026 Qualifying Group L with six points after four matches.  

The Brave Falcons had an amazing start to this campaign in March, earning back to back victories against Gibraltar 3-1 and the Faroe Islands 1-0, both in front of the home crowd.  

Their first big test was in early June, suffering a 2-0 road defeat against the Czech Republic, ending the match with 0.43-1.42 xG, 43% possession and 7-13 shots. 

Another loss against the Czechs was recorded on Friday in Podgorica 2-0, ending the match with 1.24-3.25 expected goals, 51% possession and 22-20 shots. 

Team News 


Zlatko Dalic couldn’t count on Man City’s Mateo Kovacic who is injured, while Bruno Petkovic and Mislav Orsic didn’t make it to the final cut. Luka Modric has 189 appearances for the national team and scored 28 goals.   

Montenegro’s goalkeeper Igor Nikic couldn’t be called up due to an injury, as well as Adam Marusic and Risto Radunovic. Marko Vesovic was not called up this time. Captain Stevan Jovetic has 88 appearances and 37 goals for the national team.

Verdict

Croatia are flying in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers, earning three straight wins while conceding just one goal. Montenegro struggle against top tier teams, so a home victory to nil is my top pick.

Andrej Kramaric is having incredible stats wearing the national jersey, bagging five goals in his last three appearances. I will back him to appear on the scoresheet on Monday as well.
