Kerala Blasters vs NorthEast United Predictions

Kerala have struggled badly in home fixtures, while NorthEast remain tough to beat on their travels. An away win or draw looks like the best bet for Wednesday’s ISL encounter.

NorthEast Likely to Avoid Defeat

  • Kerala Blasters lost their last 4 home matches
  • Kerala Blasters failed to win 6 of their last 7 matches
  • NorthEast United are unbeaten in their last 5 matches against Kerala Blasters
  • NorthEast United are unbeaten in their last 3 away matches

Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United Level in Recent H2H

Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United have met on 14 previous occasions since 2019. Both teams won three matches, while eight games finished deadlocked.

Kerala Blasters Break Winless Streak

Kerala Blasters return to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium after finally claiming a first ISL win of the season against Bengaluru last weekend. A late own-goal from Gurpreet Singh Sandhu proved the difference as the Tuskers fought back to secure a 2-1 road victory.

In a match lacking genuine quality, both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. David Catala's side had just three shots on target and a final xG tally of 0.52.

Before Saturday's win in Bangalore, Kerala had picked up just one point from seven previous ISL fixtures since February. Despite last weekend's win, the Tuskers remain 13th in the 14-team league.

A lack of confidence in home fixtures has been apparent since the end of last season. Kerala lost each of their first four ISL games at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, while they have won just one of eight previous home ISL encounters since the start of 2025.

NorthEast United Stronger on the Road

Predicted Lineups and Team NewsNorthEast United come into Wednesday's ISL encounter after back-to-back home defeats either side of the international break. The Highlanders suffered a 4-1 loss against Odisha before a 3-0 setback against SC Delhi.

The defeat against Delhi was particularly frustrating, with NorthEast dominating possession (59%) and posting a higher xG of 1.57.

Juan Pedro Benali's side had been in solid form before those losses, going unbeaten in four previous ISL matches (W1, D3). Each of their last three away fixtures in the Super League finished 1-1.

A strong away record underpinned NorthEast's best-ever ISL campaign last season. The Highlanders avoided defeat in 10 of 12 away games, while they have lost just one of four on the road this season.

Seven matches into the campaign, NorthEast sit 10th in the table, two points clear of Kerala.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Kerala Blasters (4-2-3-1) Arsh Shaikh; Bikash Yumnam, Fallou Ndiaye, Karim Benarif, Muhammed Saheef; Freddy Lallawmawma, Ebindas Y; Vibin Mohanan, Danish Farooq, Kevin Yoke; Victor Bertomeu.

Blasters boss Catala is likely to name much of the same side that edged past Bengaluru. Matias Hernandez could drop out after he was withdrawn before the interval last weekend. Karim Benarif is expected to deputise in the home defence.

NorthEast United (4-2-3-1) Gurmeet Singh; Bekey Oram, Dinesh Singh, Asheer Akhtar, Buanthanglun Samte; Mayakkannan Muthu, Andy Rodriguez; Parthib Gogoi, Jairo Samperio, Macarton Louis Nickson; Jithin M.S.

NorthEast are likely to make changes after their disappointing defeat against SC Delhi. Jairo Samperio and Asheer Akhtar are among those expected to earn recalls to the side.

The visitors have no reported injury issues.

Verdict

NorthEast remain a tough side to beat on the road, and with Kerala struggling for form at home, an away win or draw looks like a solid betting angle. I'm backing NorthEast in the Double Chance market.
