Mjallby vs Djurgarden Predictions & Tips - Visitors Backed to Claim Allsvenskan Spoils

Mjallby and Djurgarden are set to face off at Strandvallen just days after Djurgarden's emphatic 4-0 win in Stockholm. Mjallby, struggling for form and languishing in 12th, have lost six of their last seven games. Djurgarden, meanwhile, have climbed to third position with impressive attacking displays, winning six of their last nine and scoring freely. Given both form and recent head-to-head, Djurgarden are backed to win again, with over 2.5 goals expected in this high-scoring encounter. Team news suggests minimal changes for both sides.

Mjallby vs Djurgarden Predictions

Mjallby host Djurgarden at Strandvallen on Thursday, just three days after a thumping 4-0 defeat against the same opponents in Stockholm.

Considering Monday’s dominant display, Djurgarden should be confident of picking up another win at Strandvallen.

I have my stake on the visitors to claim victory with at least three match goals expected.

Djurgarden Backed For Away Win

  • Mjallby lost 6 of their last 7 matches
  • Mjallaby scored an average of 1.25 goals per game in their last 8 home matches
  • Mjallby have seen over 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches
  • Djurgarden won 6 of their last 9 matches
  • Djurgarden scored an average of 1.75 goals per game in their last 8 away matches
  • Djurgarden have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches

Djurgarden Edge Recent H2H Record

Mjallby and Djurgarden have met on 14 occasions since 2020. Djurgarden won six of those contests, while Mjallby claimed five victories. Three matches finished as draws.

Djurgarden romped to an easy 4-0 win in their most recent encounter earlier this week.

Mjallby Struggling for Form

Mjallby return to Strandvallen after Monday’s comprehensive defeat against Djurgarden.

Karl Marius Aksum’s side were three goals down inside 26 minutes and rarely threatened a response as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat.

Mjallby registered only three efforts on goal as the hosts eased to a one-sided victory.

The defending Allsvenskan champions have endured a largely miserable campaign. The Yellow and Black have won one but lost six of seven matches since the start of August and now sit 12th in the Allsvenskan, only four points above the drop zone.

A lack of quality in the final third has been evident in recent defeats. Aksum’s men failed to score in five of those six losses, although they did hit four in their only victory against league leaders Sirius (4-3).

European commitments have proven an unwelcome distraction for the hosts. Mjallby were eliminated from Champions League qualifying by Slovan Bratislava before suffering successive 1-0 and 3-0 defeats against Salzburg in the Europa League play-offs.

Djurgarden Hit Top Form

Djurgarden make the trip to face Mjallby after Monday’s emphatic 4-0 victory lifted them into third place in the Allsvenskan standings.

Kristian Stromland Lien struck twice inside the opening quarter-hour before Patric Aslund added a third before half-time. Substitute Fallenius rounded off the scoring with a fourth goal in the 87th minute.

Jani Honkavaara’s side have been in good form over the summer, recording six wins and only two defeats in their last nine league fixtures.

Impressive in the forward areas, Djurgarden scored 13 goals in their three most recent victories, including a brilliant 3-0 road win at Malmo. Over a longer period, the Iron Stoves scored an average of 2.27 goals per game in the Allsvenskan this season.

Strong on the road, Djurgarden have won five and lost only two of eight Allsvenskan road fixtures.

Honkavaara’s men now sit third in the division, ten points behind Sirius, but with a game in hand.

Mjallby vs Djurgarden Team News

Mjallby: (3-4-3) Robin Wallinder; Ludvig Svanberg, Tom Pettersson, Axel Noren; Villiam Granath, Jesper Gustavsson, Mads Enggard, Martin Agnarsson; Jeppe Kjaer, Jacob Bergstrom, Olle Lindberg

Mjallby boss Aksum could make changes following Monday’s heavy defeat.

Viktor Gustafson and Ludvig Tidstrand were both introduced at half-time in Stockholm and could earn recalls to the first XI.

Tony Miettinen missed Monday’s contest, while Timo Stavitski is also expected to remain sidelined.

Djurgarden: (4-2-3-1) Jacob Rinne; Adam Stahl, Miro Tenho, Jacob Une Larsson, Piotr Johansson; Daniel Stensson, Matias Siltanen; Patric Aslund, Bo Hegland, Jeppe Okkels; Kristian Stromland Lien

Head coach Honkavaara could name the same XI that eased to victory against Mjallby on Monday.

Kristian Stromland Lien should retain his place in attack after scoring twice in the 4-0 win.

Verdict

Mjallby remain a shadow of last season’s title-winning side, while Djurgarden looked particularly strong in their win against the hosts just three days ago.

I have my stake on Djurgarden to win, with a second bet on a high-scoring away victory.
