Cagliari travel to Monza in Serie A, aiming to extend their unbeaten run and capitalize on Monza’s defensive vulnerabilities. Monza, despite only one league win this season, continue to score regularly, averaging four goals per match. Cagliari have been strong away from home, winning their last four on the road and now sitting fifth in the table with 13 points from six games. The prediction highlights both teams to score, with Cagliari considered favourites to edge the encounter.

Monza vs Cagliari Predictions

Monza face Cagliari at the U-Power Stadium in a Serie A encounter on Monday.

The hosts have frequently been involved in high-scoring outcomes, and I expect more of the same this week.

BTTS is my preferred pick while I also have a stake on Cagliari DNB.

Cagliari Can Edge Exciting Encounter

  • Monza have seen BTTS in 8 of their last 9 matches
  • Monza conceded an average of 2.5 goals per game in their last 6 matches (Serie A)
  • Monza lost 4 of their last 6 matches (Serie A)
  • Cagliari have seen BTTS in 3 of their last 5 matches
  • Cagliari won their last 4 away matches (Serie A)

Cagliari Edge Recent H2H

Monza and Cagliari have met on four occasions since 2020. Cagliari won two of those encounters, Monza claimed one victory, while one game finished level.

Cagliari picked up a 2-1 win on their last trip to Monza in 2025.

Monza Continue to Score Despite Poor Results

Monza come into Monday’s Serie A contest looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat at Lazio last Sunday.

Nuno Tavares and Gustav Isaksen put Lazio in control at the Olimpico before Lorenzo Lucchesi’s red card left I Biancorossi with a mountain to climb.

Substitute Saba Goglichidze pulled one back shortly after the interval, but Andrea Pinamonti's late strike secured the points for the Romans.

Ivan Juric's side remained competitive despite their numerical disadvantage. Monza had 14 shots to Lazio's 17 and registered a higher xG of 1.84 compared to the hosts' 1.51.

Now six games into the season, Monza sit 16th in Serie A with only four points picked up from six matches.

A 2-1 win against Sassuolo before the international break remains their only win this season.

Despite a slow start to the campaign, Juric’s men have been unfortunate not to take more from the first weeks of the season. I Biancorossi suffered two 3-2 defeats, while they scored at least one goal in eight matches across all competitions.

High-scoring outcomes have been a recurring theme for the home side. Monza’s six Serie A fixtures have averaged exactly four goals per game.

The Brianzoli scored at least twice in both home league games at the U-Power Stadium and in their Coppa Italia victory against Avellino.

Cagliari Extend Unbeaten League Run

Cagliari travel to Lombardy after maintaining their excellent form with a 1-1 home draw against Juventus on Sunday.

Daniel Maldini put the hosts ahead in the first half, but Randal Kolo Muani's late header denied the Sardinians a fourth successive league victory.

I Rossoblu were somewhat fortunate to hold on for a point against the Old Lady. Juventus dominated possession (72%), outshot Cagliari 22-4 and recorded an xG of 1.92 compared to the hosts' 0.51.

Before that hard-fought share of the spoils, Fabio Pisacane’s men had secured three wins in a row against Lecce, Atalanta and Udinese.

Gli Isolani now find themselves flying high in Serie A with 13 points collected from six games. Cagliari sit fifth in the division, three points behind league leaders Inter.

The hosts have lost only three of their last 13 competitive fixtures in an improved run since the end of last season. They had lost eight of their previous 13 matches.

Pisacane’s side have been particularly impressive on the road, winning their last four away Serie A matches, including all three this season. That run includes surprise 2-1 victories at Atalanta and AC Milan.

Monza vs Cagliari Team News

Monza: (3-4-2-1) Noel Tornqvist; Eddy Kouadio, Saba Goglichidze, Andrea Carboni; Samuele Birindelli, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Michael Folorunsho, Ricardo Mangas; Exequiel Zeballos, Dany Mota; Gustavo Varela.

Monza boss Juric will be forced into at least one alteration to his first XI. Lorenzo Lucchesi is suspended after his dismissal at Lazio.

Saba Goglichidze is in line to start after coming off the bench and scoring on his debut.

Matteo Pessina, Jan Ziolkowski and Idrissa Toure remain sidelined, while Patrick Ciurria and Ricardo Mangas require late fitness checks.

Dany Mota is pushing for a recall after an influential second-half appearance against Lazio.

Cagliari: (4-3-2-1) Elia Caprile; Ze Pedro, Yerry Mina, Juan Rodriguez, Adam Obert; Jacopo Fazzini, Harry Winks, Alessandro Romano; Michel Adopo, Daniel Maldini; Paul Mendy.

Head coach Piscane is unable to call on three players this week. Mattia Felici and Riyad Idrissi remain long-term absentees, while Kevin Carlos is likely to remain sidelined.

Daniel Maldini should retain his place after scoring against Juventus last weekend.

Verdict

Cagliari are in great form, and they should have the edge in a game where both teams are expected to score.

Monza carry plenty of attacking threat, but a vulnerable defence remains a major issue.

BTTS is my first choice while I also have a stake on Cagliari DNB.
