Republic of Ireland vs Qatar Betting Tips & Predictions – Ireland Backed to Win in Dublin

The Republic of Ireland are predicted to secure a win against Qatar in their upcoming friendly at Aviva Stadium. While Ireland missed out on the World Cup 2026, their spirits are high following a 5-0 win over Grenada. Qatar, having already qualified for the World Cup, are likely to rotate their squad to prevent injuries. Key players for Ireland include Troy Parrott and Seamus Coleman, while Qatar rely on Hassan Al-Haydos and Almoez Ali. The main recommendation is to back Ireland for a home win.

Qatar are likely to rotate heavily here and avoid potential injuries ahead of their World Cup 2026 appearance. Republic of Ireland are backed to win in front of their home crowd at Aviva Stadium.

Key Stats

  • Republic of Ireland have won 4 of their last 6 matches.
  • Qatar have lost 3 of their last 4 matches.

Two Previous Meetings

Republic of Ireland are leading the head-to-head record against Qatar with one win and one draw.

Ireland Trying to Lift Team Spirits

After an unsuccessful World Cup 2026 qualifying campaign, Republic of Ireland will play a couple of friendly matches in preparation for the Nations League, which starts in September.

Earlier this month, they faced Grenada in a friendly and claimed a convincing 5-0 victory. Jack Moylan scored a hat-trick, while Thomas Cannon added a brace.

Republic of Ireland finished 2nd in Group F of the World Cup qualifiers after a dramatic 3-2 win over Hungary, but their campaign ended in the playoffs. They squandered a 2-0 lead against the Czech Republic before losing on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.

Qatar Made it to the World Cup 2026

Julen Lopetegui has successfully led Qatar to their second World Cup appearance, securing a place at the upcoming tournament through the regular Asian qualifiers.

A 2-1 home victory over the United Arab Emirates in mid-October was enough for Qatar to top Group A in the final qualifying phase, with Akram Afif providing assists for Pedro Miguel and Boualem Khoukhi.

Qatar’s most recent outings came in early December at the FIFA Arab Cup, where they suffered defeats to Palestine (1-0) and Tunisia (3-0), while their clash against Syria ended in a 1-1 draw.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Republic of Ireland (3-4-2-1) Caoimhin Kelleher; Dara O'Shea, Nathan Collins, Liam Scales; Seamus Coleman, Jayson Molumby, Joe Hodge, Callum O'Dowda; Chiedozie Ogbene, Jack Moylan; Troy Parrott

Troy Parrott is the top scorer on this roster with 11 goals, while Seamus Coleman has the most games for the national team (79). Alan Browne and Finn Azaz were not called up due to injuries.

Qatar (4-3-3) Meshaal Barsham; Pedro Miguel, Boualem Khoukhi, Hashmi Al Hussain, Hommam Al Amin; Karim Boudiaf, Ahmed Fatehi, Hassan Al Haydos; Akram Afif, Almoez Ali, Ahmed Alaa

Veteran and captain Hassan Al-Haydos is expected to start in Dublin. He is currently at 184 appearances for the national team, scoring 41 goals. Almoez Ali is the top scorer with 55 goals.

Verdict

Republic of Ireland are looking to put their World Cup 2026 disappointment behind them and looked impressive in a recent 5-0 victory over Grenada. I am backing them to win in front of the home crowd against an unconvincing Qatar side.
