Rochdale have found stability in League Two after a rough start, collecting seven points from the last four matches. Historically, Rochdale have beaten Liverpool U21 in both previous meetings without conceding. Meanwhile, Liverpool U21 have struggled away from home, losing two of their last three on the road. With this in mind, Rochdale are backed to secure all three points in their upcoming match. The recent uptick in home performances and Liverpool U21’s away woes make the hosts the likely winners.

Liverpool U21 struggled in their away days in the Premier League 2 this season. Rochdale found some stability this month and I will back them to secure points on Tuesday.

Key Stats

  • Rochdale have won 2 of their last 3 home matches.
  • Rochdale have won their last 2 matches against Liverpool U21.
  • Liverpool U21 have lost 2 of their last 3 away matches.

Two Previous Meetings

These two sides clashed twice so far, and Rochdale won on both occasions without conceding a single goal.

Hosts Earned Promotion Last Season

Rochdale AFC earned promotion to League Two last season but are having a rough time in the new campaign, collecting seven points in seven games while losing more than half of matches.

After losing their first three appearances, Ian Watson's side recovered recently, starting this month with a 3-0 win over Shrewsbury, then snatching a point on the road at Walsall 0-0.

Last weekend, they hosted and defeated Oldham Athletic 2-0. Dan Moss broke the deadlock on Kane Taylor’s assists in the 7th minute, while Dajaune Brown doubled the lead in the second half.

Liverpool Didn't Make it Far Last Year

Liverpool U21 had a disappointing run in the EFL Trophy last season, losing two out of three encounters and exiting the competition in group stages.

They have mixed results in the Premier League 2, grabbing seven points in four rounds. Their campaign started with a 1-1 draw against Everton, then defeated Leeds 2-1.

The first loss in the new campaign was registered in mid-September to West Ham 1-0, but they bounced back instantly with a commanding 5-1 win over Brighton last weekend. Will Wright was named man of the match, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

Team News

Midfielder Jonny Smith is ruled out for Rochdale, struggling with leg injury.

Liverpool U21 are travelling without defender Owen Beck (hamstring problem) and Will Wright (knock).

Verdict

Rochdale claimed seven points from their last four games and escaped the danger zone in League Two. I am backing them to beat Liverpool U21 who struggle on the road.
