Juventus face Parma in Serie A with the home side expected to secure a clean sheet victory. Juventus have shown defensive strength, conceding just one goal in seven games, while Parma’s attack has struggled on the road, scoring just 12 away goals last season. Despite Parma’s solid recent form, Juventus’ dominance and organization under Luciano Spalletti make them favorites. Predicted line-ups suggest Juventus will field a strong side, with an expectation of a routine home win. Recommended bet: Juventus to win to nil.

Juventus have been close to impregnable during a full preseason under Luciano Spalletti. The demanding manager will expect total dominance against Parma who are likely to find it tough in Torino.

Juventus have a 40-14 advantage against Parma alongside 19 draws.

The Old Lady won 2-0 in Torino last season, ending with 64% possession and 8-2 shots on target.

Spalletti Demands More From Juventus

Juventus had a strong preseason, conceding just twice in six games which included a 1-0 victory over Chelsea. The only time they were breached came in a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan.

Luciano Spalletti saw his side start Serie A with a routine 1-0 win at Frosinone. Bremer’s early goal was the difference as they held the hosts to 0.41 xG.

Spalletti spoke about the need for more control after the match: “The team has shown it has an identity, but at times we’re a bit careless and we’re not good at showing the determination we need. It can happen, especially at the start; we’ll work on it.”

“Against Frosinone, it’s not easy to control the game; it’s easier to go and score goals and seal the win than to manage the game. Today there were always spaces available, in fact, there were too many, and we didn’t make the most of them.”

Scoring Problems for Parma

Parma lost three of their final four games last season and hardly showed much optimism in five friendlies. They were unable to win in the preseason, scoring just three goals.

The Crusaders were too good for Serie C side Catania in the Coppa Italia, teenage forward Simone Lontani scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory.

Carlos Cuesta’s side began the new Serie A campaign with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cagliari. They had 47% possession at home and registered only two shots on target, ending with 0.75 xG.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Juventus (4-2-3-1): Kamil Grabara; Pierre Kalulu, Bremer, Lloyd Kelly, Zeki Celik; Manuel Locatelli, Douglas Luiz; Francisco Conceicao, Weston McKennie, Jérémie Boga; Randal Kolo Muani

Federico Gatti remains doubtful but Jeff Ekhator could return on the bench after struggling with a muscle issue. Andrea Cambiaso and Zeki Celik compete for a spot at left-back.

Guglielmo Vicario came off in added time at Frosinone. Mattia Perin and Michele Di Gregorio left the club this week which could see Kamil Grabara start in goal after sealing a loan move from Wolfsburg.

Juventus (4-2-3-1) Kamil Grabara; Pierre Kalulu, Bremer, Lloyd Kelly, Zeki Celik; Manuel Locatelli, Douglas Luiz; Francisco Conceicao, Weston McKennie, Jérémie Boga; Randal Kolo Muani

Kenan Yildiz is set to undergo surgery for a foot injury which could see the star winger out for two to three months. Jérémie Boga, Kerim Alajbegovic and Nico González are the options to start on the left wing.

Parma (4-3-3): Edoardo Corvi; Enrico Delprato, Mariano Troilo, Abdoulaye Ndiaye, Emanuele Valeri; Adrián Bernabé, Abdou-Salam Konate, Christian Ordonez; Mandela Keita, El Bilal Touré, Simone Lontani

Carlos Cuesta is likely to keep faith with the side that started against Cagliari. David Romero waits for his chance up front.

Verdict

Parma had the weakest attack on the road in Serie A last season, scoring just 12 goals in 19 games. There is little to suggest a change in fortunes, especially against the top teams in Italy.
