Sheffield United host Wrexham in the Championship, with a draw recommended as the main selection. Both teams are struggling for momentum—Sheffield United have won just three of their last twelve home matches and are winless in three of their last four at Bramall Lane, while Wrexham have failed to win in four consecutive away fixtures and have dropped points in five of six road games. Injuries continue to impact both squads, further reducing confidence in either side securing a win. The fixture’s even head-to-head record and current form point towards a cagey stalemate.

Sheffield United vs Wrexham Preview

Sheffield United and Wrexham are two of the most inconsistent sides in the 2026/27 Championship. These mid-table teams are struggling for momentum and a cagey draw is the best pick.

Red Dragons Winless in 4

  • Sheffield United are winless in 3 of their last 4 home games.
  • Sheffield United are winless in their last 2 matches against Wrexham.
  • Wrexham are winless in 4 consecutive away games.

H2H - Even Record

Sheffield United have a 6-5 advantage against Wrexham, alongside four draws.

Sheffield United Struggling at Home

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United are a poor home side. They have won just three of their last 12 competitive matches at Bramall Lane.

The Blades were on a three-match losing streak, including a 1-0 home defeat against Wolves. United had -1 XG in all three of those losses.

The Yorkshire side replied by defeating newly promoted Lincoln 3-0. A 3-2 defeat at Portsmouth and a 1-0 away win over Bristol City followed.

Sheffield United’s patchy spell continued after a 1-1 home draw against Derby. The Blades conceded before half time and Patrick Bamford equalised in the 79th minute.

Wrexham Lacking Away Form

Wrexham are one of the Championship’s most out-of-form away sides this season. The Red Dragons have dropped points in five of their six matches on the road, including three draws.

The Welsh team have failed to win in four consecutive away fixtures. Draws with Swansea 0-0 and Derby 1-1 came either side of a 6-0 thrashing at West Ham.

Phil Parkinson’s side also lost 2-0 at Blackburn on Saturday. Wrexham failed to score with 24 shots, 1.6 XG and conceded once in each half.

Predicted Starting Lineups & Team News

Sheffield United (4-2-3-1): Michael Cooper; Hamza Choudhury, Japhet Tanganga, Liam Kitching, Harrison Burrows; Kalvin Phillips, Sydie Peck; Tahith Chong, Tom Cannon, Ben Brereton Diaz; Patrick Bamford

Midfielder Jamie Shackleton and defender Matt Doherty are sidelined due to injury.

Ryan One missed the Derby match with a knock. Chris Wilder was unsure about the attacker’s fitness and said:

“He just felt something the other day (in training). So gone for a scan and see what that’s all about.”

Wrexham (3-4-2-1): Anthony Patterson; Zak Vyner, Joe Worrall, Callum Doyle; Issa Kabore, Matty James, Ben Whiteman, Jacques Ekomie; Sam Smith, Callum O'Hare; Kieffer Moore

Midfielders Josh Windass and Nathan Broadhead are unavailable due to injury. Defenders Liberato Cacace, Max Cleworth and Seb Revan are also ruled out with injuries.

Phil Parkinson was left frustrated with Wrexham’s ongoing injury issues this season. The Wrexham boss said it is “probably the worst run of injuries since I’ve been at the club.”

Verdict

Sheffield United have long-term problems at home and Wrexham don’t win many away matches. Neither side looks confident and it’s worth sticking with a cagey draw in the Championship.
