Shenzhen Peng City hosts Shanghai Port in a highly anticipated Chinese Super League match. While both teams regularly find the net, their defensive weaknesses suggest a high-scoring game, with a strong chance for Both Teams To Score (BTTS). Shanghai Port, in winning form and with a dominant head-to-head record, are tipped to score at least twice. Despite Shenzhen’s home competitiveness, the visitors are slight favorites. Team news reports few absences, setting the stage for an open, entertaining fixture with goals likely for both sides.

Shenzhen Peng City vs Shanghai Port Predictions

Shenzhen Peng City take on an in-form Shanghai Port in a potentially entertaining Chinese Super League match on Friday.

Both teams have been finding the net regularly this season, and I expect goals at Longquanyi Stadium.

I have my stake on BTTS, while we could see the visitors score two goals or more.

Goals Likely in Shenzhen

  • Shenzhen Peng City have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Shenzhen Peng City conceded 2+ goals in 6 of their last 10 matches (CSL)
  • Shanghai Port have seen BTTS in 11 of their last 13 matches
  • Shanghai Port scored 2+ goals in 7 of their last 10 matches (CSL)
  • Shenzhen Peng City have seen BTTS in their last 4 matches against Shanghai Port

Shanghai Port Dominate Head to Head Record

Shenzhen Peng City and Shanghai Port have met on six occasions since 2024. Shanghai Port won four of those encounters, while two matches finished as draws.

Shenzhen Prove Competitive at Home

Shenzhen Peng City come into Friday’s contest after a 1-1 draw against Zhejiang last weekend.

Xia Dalong opened the scoring for Robbie Neilson’s side before Wesley Santos equalised late on for the visitors.

Both teams could have added to their tallies, with the hosts registering an xG of 1.83, while Zhejiang posted 1.26.

Shenzhen have struggled to find much consistency in recent weeks. The hosts have won three and lost five of their last ten fixtures across all competitions.

The hosts have been considerably more competitive on home soil, averaging 1.67 points per game across their first 12 home fixtures this season. On the road, that number drops to 0.58 points per game.

Neilson’s side have been an entertaining watch at Longquanyi Stadium. An average of 3.25 goals per game were scored in 12 home Super League fixtures this season.

Twenty-four matches into the CSL season, Peng City sit tenth in the division, two points behind Shanghai Port.

Shanghai Port Hit Winning Form

Shanghai Port travel to Shenzhen after a well-deserved 2-1 home victory against Qingdao Hainiu last weekend.

Carlos Strandberg opened the scoring for the visitors before Wu Lei’s brace secured the points for the Red Eagles.

Final match stats suggested Shanghai were deserving winners last weekend. The hosts had more shots, enjoyed greater possession and posted a significantly higher xG tally, leading 11-10 in attempts, 57%-43% in possession and 2.16-0.49 on xG.

Kevin Muscat’s side have now picked up three wins and one draw from their last four Super League fixtures. Port bagged successive 3-2 away victories against Chongqing Tonglianglong and Wuhan Three Towns before a 1-1 draw against Dalian Yingbo.

Despite their improved form, clean sheets remain frustratingly elusive. The CSL champions conceded at least one goal in 12 of their last 13 matches. Both teams scored in 11 of those 13 fixtures.

Over a longer period, BTTS has landed in all but three of Shanghai’s last 18 fixtures.

Shenzhen Peng City vs Shanghai Port Team News

Shenzhen Peng City: (4-1-4-1) Peng Peng; Tang Miao, Gabriel Xavier, Yu Rui, Xuan Zhijian; Zhang Yufeng; Tian Yinong, Tim Chow, Dai Wai-Tsun, Albion Ademi; Wesley Moraes

Shenzhen have no major new selection concerns reported following last weekend’s draw against Zhejiang.

Head coach Neilson could retain much of the side that started that contest, with Wesley Moraes expected to continue as the focal point in attack.

Shanghai Port: (4-2-3-1) Yan Junling; Alex Yang, Tyias Browning, Zhang Linpeng, Yue Xin; Jean Claude Aziangbe, Mateus Vital; Wu Lei, Prince Ampem, Oscar Melendo; Leonardo

Shanghai Port boss Muscat has two confirmed absentees this week. Gabrielzinho and Jiwen Kuai remain unavailable due to injury issues.

Brazilian forward Leonardo is expected to lead the line for the away side.

Verdict

A competitive and entertaining encounter is expected, with both teams struggling to keep clean sheets this season.

I have my stake on BTTS, while I also like Shanghai to score at least two goals.
