Slavia Prague vs Barcelona Betting Tips & Prediction – Barca to Secure Important Champions League Points

Barcelona continues to impress defensively, recording four clean sheets in their last five away matches. This consistent defensive performance boosts their chances for victory against Slavia Prague, who have only managed to score two goals in their last six UEFA Champions League games. Given Barcelona's current form and Slavia Prague’s struggles in front of the goal, an away win to nil appears to be a highly probable outcome. This strategic defensive approach highlights Barcelona's focus on securing victories by maintaining a solid backline on the road.

Barcelona are tipped to beat Slavia to nil (Getty)

This match is of huge importance for Barcelona as they need points to stay in the Top 8 race. Slavia Prague’s run so far has been quite poor, netting just twice in six games, so an away win to nil is the best choice.

Key Stats

  • Slavia Prague have lost to nil in 3 of their last 5 matches (UCL).
  • Slavia Prague have failed to score in their last 5 matches (UCL).
  • Barcelona have won to nil in 4 of their last 5 away matches.

Two Previous Meetings

These two sides locked horns in the UCL season 2019/20, Barcelona winning 2-1 in Prague, while the clash at Camp Nou ended in a goalless draw.

Slavia Struggle Offensively

Slavia Prague’s chances of reaching the UCL playoffs have been reduced to a minimum, entering this round in 33rd place with just three points from six games and only two goals scored.

They were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham Hotspur in London in their most recent contest, but showed some attacking intent with 12 shots (five on target) and 0.80 xG, missing a couple of solid chances.

Jindrich Trpisovsky’s side continue to thrive domestically, leading the Czech top flight unbeaten after 19 rounds with 13 wins, six draws, and 41 goals scored. In their most recent league outing, Slavia edged third-placed Jablonec 4-3 in mid-December.

Barcelona Chasing a Top-8 Finish

Barcelona enjoyed plenty of success earlier this month, with their trip to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup resulting in a dominant 5-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the semifinals, followed by a 3-2 victory against Real Madrid in the final. Raphinha stole the spotlight with three goals and two assists across the tournament.

They also had no trouble eliminating Racing Santander 2-0 in the Spanish Cup, limiting the opposition to just 23% possession. That impressive run came to an end last weekend, with a 2-1 loss to in-form Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, where two Barcelona goals were disallowed by VAR.

As for their UCL campaign, Hansi Flick’s side are not in a comfortable position, having collected just 10 points from six games. They will likely need two wins in the remaining rounds and some help elsewhere to finish inside the Top 8. In their most recent UCL outing, Barca staged a comeback to beat Frankfurt 2-1 at home in mid-December.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Slavia Prague (4-5-1) Jindrich Stanek; Tomas Holes, Jakub Chaloupek, Igoh Ogbu, David Zima; David Doudera, Moses Usor, Lukas Provod, Lukas Sadilek, Ebrima Sanyang; Mojmir Chytil

Dominik Javorcek and Matous Srb are recovering from long-term injuries for the home side.

Barcelona (4-2-3-1) Joan Garcia; Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Eric Garcia, Alejandro Balde; Pedri, Frenkie de Jong; Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, Marcus Rashford; Ferran Torres

Andreas Christensen and Gavi are injured for Barca, while Lamine Yamal is serving a one-game suspension.

Verdict

Barcelona are doing a great job in keeping their net intact on the road, recording four clean sheets in their last five trips. Slavia Prague netted just two goals in six UCL games, so an away win to nil is going to be my top pick.
