Stuttgart's recent away form has been shaky, with two losses in their last three games and defensive vulnerabilities exposed against Paderborn. The article sees potential for Slovan to capitalize on these weaknesses and recommends considering Slovan to score. Additionally, backing Slovan to avoid defeat is suggested as a secondary option, reflecting confidence in Slovan's chances in the upcoming match.

Stuttgart's back line is having a lot of problems this season, especially on the road, so I don't view them as massive favorites for this clash. I think backing Slovan in the double chance market is a value bet.

Key Stats

  • Slovan Bratislava are unbeaten in 6 of their last 7 home matches.
  • Slovan Bratislava have seen BTTS in their last 5 matches.
  • Slovan Bratislava have seen BTTS in their last 2 matches against Stuttgart.
  • Stuttgart are winless in 6 of their last 8 away matches.
  • Stuttgart have seen BTTS in 2 of their last 3 away matches.

This Will Be Their 4th Head to Head Meeting

These two sides battled in the Europa League qualifiers in 2010, while also locking horns in the Champions League last season.

Slovan Having Mixed Results in Slovakia

After making their way to the UCL main stage through the qualifiers, Slovan Bratislava were crushed by the reigning champions PSG 6-1 in the opening round, Suleiman Camara scoring a consolation.

Yaya Toure's side is also having a lot of problems with inconsistency in the Slovakian top flight, grabbing 17 points in nine matches and currently sit in 4th place with a six-point deficit from the leaders Dunajska Streda.

After the international break, they returned to action last weekend with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Skalica, Andraz Sporar missing a penalty in the second half.

Late September Was Rough for the Swabians

Stuttgart justified role of heavy favorites in the Champions League opening round against Viking, beating the Norwegian champions 3-1 at home with Ermedin Demirovic scoring a hat-trick in 32 minutes.

Sebastian Hoeness' side hit a rough patch in the Bundesliga right after this victory, registering back to back defeats against Hoffenheim 2-1 and Borussia Dortmund 1-0.

They returned to winning ways last weekend with a 2-0 road victory against Paderborn. The Swabians' defensive performance was far from ideal here, allowing 1.96 xG and 24 shots to the opposition.

Team News & Predicted Lineups

Slovan Bratislava (4-2-3-1) Dominik Takac; Cesar Blackman, Kenan Bajric, Svetozar Markovic, Sandro Cruz; Peter Pokorny, Alen Mustafic; Tigran Barseghyan, Cristian Martinez, Suleiman Camara Sanneh; Andraz Sporar

The home side is missing only forward Mykola Kukharevych due to an unspecified injury.

Stuttgart (3-4-2-1) Fabian Bredlow; Finn Jeltsch, Jeff Chabot, Anthony Rouault; Josha Vagnoman, Angelo Stiller, Grischa Promel, Bilal El Khannouss; Enzo Millot, Deniz Undav; Ermedin Demirovic

Stuttgart travelled to Slovakia without Maximilian Mittelstadt, Nikolas Nartey, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Ameen Al-Dakhil, Tiago Tomas, Justin Diehl, and Luca Jaquez, all of them ruled out due to injuries.

Verdict

Stuttgart have lost two of their last three away games and allowed Paderborn plenty of chances last weekend. I like Slovan's chances of scoring here, while backing them to avoid defeat with a smaller stake is also worth considering.
