Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship Tips & Preview - 4 bets for the DP World Tour playoffs

The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship at Yas Links marks the start of the DP World Tour Playoffs, featuring a 70-player field from 5-8 November. Tommy Fleetwood is tipped to win, backed by his strong recent form on both the PGA and DP World Tours and an outstanding record in Abu Dhabi, including two previous victories and several top finishes. Adam Scott, Jacob Olesen and Casey Jarvis are also recommended as each-way selections, each showing consistent performances in recent tournaments. Yas Links stages the first event of the DP World Tour Playoffs with a 70-strong field bidding to win the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship from November 5-8.

Aaron Rai is back to defend his title after a play-off victory over Tommy Fleetwood in 2025 with the duo among the leading hopes again.

These are our four selections who could win the title this weekend.

Tommy Fleetwood


Tommy Fleetwood has been in solid form on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour during the past three months, placing T4 at the Open Championship, T7 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T47 at the BMW Championship, T11 at the Tour Championship, MC at the BMW PGA Championship, W/D from the Open de France, T4 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and T5 at the DP World India Championship. 

Other notable results achieved by Fleetwood this year include a T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a T7 at the Genesis Invitational, a T8 at the Players Championship, a T10 at the Valero Texas Open, a T5 at the Truist Championship, a T4 at the Memorial Tournament, a T11 at the RBC Canadian Open, a T11 at the U.S. Open, a T14 at the Travelers Championship and a T13 at the Genesis Scottish Open. 

The world's seventh-ranked golfer has compiled an excellent record at the Abu Dhabi Championship in his last nine starts, winning back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 before finishing T42 in 2019, T2 in 2020, T7 in 2021, T48 in 2022, T38 in 2023, T6 in 2024 and 2nd in 2025.  

Fleetwood has a proven track record at this tournament and can pocket the winner's cheque in the UAE this weekend. 

Adam Scott


Adam Scott has been performing well on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T9 at the Open Championship, T12 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T16 at the BMW Championship, T11 at the Tour Championship, T2 at the BMW PGA Championship and T13 at the Baycurrent Classic. 

Other noteworthy results achieved by Scott this season include 7th at the BMW Australian PGA Championship, 5th at the Crown Australian Open, T24 at the American Express, 4th at the Genesis Invitational, T11 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T21 at the Texas Children's Houston Open, T24 at the Masters, T4 at the Cadillac Championship and T12 at the Memorial Tournament. 

The eight-time DP World Tour winner has made two appearances at the Abu Dhabi Championship, finishing T10 in 2022 and T46 in 2024.  

Scott can convert his results into a winning performance at the Yas Links golf course come Sunday. 

Jacob Olesen


Jacob Olesen has been in ultra-consistent form on the DP World Tour since mid-August, placing T9 at the Danish Golf Championship, T16 at the Nexo Championship, T2 at the British Masters, T7 at the Amgen Irish Open, MC at the BMW PGA Championship, T11 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, 4th at the Open de Espana, T20 at the DP World Indian Championship and T13 at the recent Genesis Championship.

Additional highlights from Olesen's season include a T3 at the Qatar Masters, a T5 at the Magical Kenya Open, a T16 at the Hero Indian Open, a T4 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, a T4 at the Turkish Airlines Open, a T2 at the Soudal Open and a T6 at the Corales Puntacana Championship on the PGA Tour. 

The Dane finished T23 at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Championship on debut.   

Olesen has done nothing wrong lately and could upstage the others at Yas Links come Sunday. 

Casey Jarvis


Casey Jarvis has regained his touch on the DP World Tour lately after a wayward couple of months, placing T2 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T32 at the DP World India Championship and T4 at the recent Genesis Championship.

Other prominent performances achieved by Jarvis on the DP World Tour this season include a 3rd at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, a T9 at the Bahrain Championship, a victory at the Magical Kenya Open, a victory at the Investec South African Open Championship, a T2 at the Joburg Open, a T13 at the Hero Indian Open, a T20 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (PGA Tour), a T22 at the Soudal Open, a T21 at the Genesis Scottish Open and a T6 at the Open Championship.

The two-time DP World Tour winner finished T56 overall at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Championship on debut.

Jarvis has been showing signs that he is ready to secure another title this season in the UAE this weekend. 

Verdict

Fleetwood has the form to go all the way and win the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship for a third time.
 
Scott has been thereabouts lately and can secure his ninth DP World Tour title come Sunday.

Olesen has played well lately and has claims to the title in the UAE this weekend.

Jarvis has come good in recent outings and will fancy his chances of winning the title at Yas Links this weekend.
