Bank of Utah Championship Preview & Betting Tips - 4 predictions for the PGA Tour title

The third edition of the Bank of Utah Championship tees off at Black Desert Golf Club from October 1-4, 2026, with Michael Brennan defending his crown. This preview highlights four top contenders: Jackson Koivun, Ben James, Matt Wallace, and Ben Kohles, each demonstrating strong recent form and significant results across various PGA and DP World Tour events. Koivun and James are both debutants with notable performances, while Wallace and Kohles bring experience and consistency. The third edition of the Bank of Utah Championship takes place from October 1-4, 2026, at the Black Desert Golf Club and we have four picks for PGA Tour victory.

Michael Brennan is back to defend his title after a four-stroke victory over Rico Hoey in 2025.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend. 

Jackson Koivun


Jackson Koivun has had an outstanding start to his career since turning professional on the PGA Tour in July, with results of MC at the John Deere Classic, T10 at the ISCO Championship, a victory at the 3M Open, T31 at the Rocket Classic, T29 at the Wyndham Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and T5 at the recent Biltmore Championship Asheville in seven starts.

Other noteworthy results achieved by Koivun in 2026 include victories in the Amer Ari Invitational, Gators Invitational, the Hayt, Mason Rudolph Championship, Ford Collegiate and SEC Men's Golf Championship Stroke Play.

He was also T10 at the NCAA Athens Regional and at the NCAA DI Men's National Championship Stroke Play as well as T23 at the U.S. Open. 

Last weekend, he was part of the Presidents Cup winning side will make his debut at the Bank of Utah Championship this weekend. 

Koivun will fancy his chances of securing his second title of the season at the Black Desert Golf Club this weekend. 

Ben James


Ben James has been in excellent form on the PGA Tour during the past two months, placing T15 at the ISCO Championship, T4 at the Corales Puntacana Championship, MC at the 3M Open, T38 at the Rocket Classic, 3rd at the Wyndham Championship, and 2nd at the recent Biltmore Championship Asheville. 

Other notable results achieved by James this season include a T2 at the Puerto Rico Classic, a T5 at the Southern Highlands Collegiate, a T4 at the Hayt, a T5 at the Pauma Valley Invitational, a T4 at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial, a T5 at the ACC Men's Golf Championship, a victory at the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional, a T16 at the NCAA DI Men's National Championship and a T23 at the U.S. Open. 

The 23-year-old will make his debut at the Bank of Utah Championship this weekend.

James has every chance to win the title at the Black Desert Golf Club if he can replicate his recent performances. 

Matt Wallace


Matt Wallace has been performing well on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T5 at the Rocket Classic, T7 at the Wyndham Championship, T15 at the British Masters, T9 at the Omega European Masters, T14 at the Amgen Irish Open and T10 at the BMW PGA Championship.

Additional highlights from Wallace's season include a T7 at the Dubai Invitational, a T20 at the Qatar Masters, a T2 at the Valero Texas Open, a T23 at the Cadillac Championship and 2nd at the Italian Open.

The five-time DP World Tour winner missed the cut at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship on debut.

Wallace has found consistency in his game lately and can lift the trophy in Utah come Sunday.

Ben Kohles


Ben Kohles has been in decent nick on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour since the beginning of July, placing T3 at the John Deere Classic, T15 at the ISCO Championship, 9th at the 3M Open, T26 at the Rocket Classic, T29 at the Wyndham Championship, T63 at the Albertsons Boise Open, T23 at the AdventHealth Championship, T27 at the Simmons Bank Open and T15 at the recent Biltmore Championship Asheville. 

Other prominent performances achieved by Kohles this season include a T19 at the Bahamas Golf Classic, a T10 at the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, a 6th at the Visa Argentina Open, a T13 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T31 at the Myrtle Beach Classic, a 12th at the Colonial Life Charity Classic, a victory at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, a T23 at the U.S. Open and a T19 at the Memorial Health Championship.

The American golfer has made two appearances at the Bank of Utah Championship, finishing T46 in 2024 and T20 in 2025. 

Kohles has been thereabouts lately and should enter calculations in Utah this weekend. 

Verdict

Koivun has the form to go all the way and make the frame at the Black Desert Golf Club this weekend.

James has been showing signs lately that he is ready to secure his maiden PGA Tour title.
 
Wallace comes into the Bank of Utah Championship playing good golf and will be challenging for the title come Sunday.
 
Kohles has the form to cause an upset victory in Utah this weekend.
