The Finns have been red-hot offensively and solid defensively through the first few games, while Latvia have come up short against some of the better teams and are struggling for goals.

They were handed a tough opener as they were paired with host nation Switzerland, who have appeared in each of the last two finals.

Latvia unsurprisingly fell to a 4-2 defeat, but rebounded in their very next outing as they shut out Germany in a 2-0 victory.

The Latvians were unable to build on that success though, as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Austria last time out.

Finland enter this game having made a perfect start to the tournament, winning each of their first three outings.

The Finns have had an unhealthy knack for starting slow in the World Championship in recent years, but that has not been the case this time around.

They kicked off the competition with a 3-1 victory over Germany, and backed that up with a 4-1 demolition of Hungary.

That set Finland up for a big clash with defending champions, the United States, and they were able to maintain their 100% record in impressive fashion.

Not only did the Finns beat the Americans – they blew them out as they recorded a 6-2 victory.

Finland are flying right now and only one team has managed to score more goals than them.
