Frölunda are among the teams we're backing to challenge for the title, while Växjö Lakers offer an alternative way into the season-long markets. We've also picked out four players to follow in the goals and points markets.

Frölunda to Win the SHL

Best Bet - Frölunda to win the SHL

Frölunda finished second in the SHL last season before winning the Champions Hockey League, and there are reasons to believe they can improve again this year.

One of the biggest is the arrival of Samuel Fagemo from North America. He adds another goalscoring threat to a team that was already among Sweden's strongest.

After a season of transition following a long-term coaching change, Frölunda look capable of mounting another serious challenge.

Växjö Lakers to Reach the Semi-Finals

Best Bet - Växjö Lakers to reach the semi-finals

Växjö reached the SHL semi-finals last season and we're backing them to at least repeat that performance.

There has been considerable change during the offseason, but Växjö have strengthened defensively, including the addition of experienced defenceman Sebastian Aho following his return from North America.

With a semi-final market available rather than requiring Växjö to win the championship, this is our preferred futures position on the Lakers.

Marcus Johansson - Top Points Scorer

Marcus Johansson arrives at Färjestad following a long NHL career and showed he can still produce offensively during his final season with the Minnesota Wild.

Oscar Lindberg is an obvious contender in this market, but Johansson provides another option to lead the SHL in points.

Samuel Fagemo - Top Goalscorer

We're also backing Frölunda's new signing in the goals market.

Fagemo has already started finding the net in the Champions Hockey League and should have an important offensive role for Frölunda throughout the season.

Robin Kovács - Top Points Scorer

Robin Kovács is our bigger-priced alternative in the points market after finishing sixth in SHL scoring last season.

He moves to newly promoted Björklöven and should be one of the focal points of their attack. Playing for a team expected to finish lower in the standings doesn't necessarily rule him out of the scoring race if a large percentage of their offence runs through him.

Calle Järnkrok - Brynäs Top Points Scorer

Calle Järnkrok is another major name returning to Sweden after a lengthy spell in North America.

He should have an important offensive role for Brynäs and could see significant opportunities on the power play, making him an interesting option to lead his new team in points.
