Toronto Maple Leafs vs Calgary Flames NHL Predictions & Betting Tips - Leafs' Depth to Prove Too Much

Toronto's four-game winning streak is backed to continue against Calgary, with the Maple Leafs to win, Auston Matthews to score and William Nylander to record a point.

The Leafs head to Calgary having scored 18 goals in their last three games, including seven against Edmonton on Saturday. Their attacking depth is proving difficult to contain, with contributions coming from all four lines.

Calgary have won three straight themselves, but their improvement has relied heavily on Devin Cooley's goaltending and an excellent power play. The Flames have converted six of their last 12 opportunities with the man advantage, although Toronto's league-leading 95.2% penalty kill presents a serious challenge.

Matthews has scored in eight of his 13 appearances this season and remains Toronto's biggest goal threat. Nylander has collected points in seven of his last ten games, making him another attractive player selection.

  • Toronto have won eight consecutive meetings with Calgary.
  • The Maple Leafs have scored 18 goals across their last three games.
  • Calgary average just 2.3 goals per game this season.
  • Toronto's power play is converting at 30.2%, while their penalty kill is operating at 95.2%.

Toronto Maple Leafs Form

Toronto have won four straight, including a 7-2 demolition of Edmonton on Saturday. Matthews and Troy Stecher scored just 54 seconds apart in the second period before the Leafs added four goals in the third.

Their previous outing produced a dramatic 5-4 victory over the Rangers, with Stecher scoring the winner inside the final 30 seconds. Toronto's depth has been particularly impressive, with 13 players registering points against Edmonton.

Matthews has scored in eight of 13 games, while Nylander has points in seven of his last ten and scored twice against Edmonton. John Tavares remains sidelined, leaving Nick Paul to centre the second line, while defensive injuries continue to test Toronto's depth.

Calgary Flames Form

Calgary have recovered from a difficult start with three consecutive victories, although their 4-6-0 record and minus-16 goal differential highlight the problems that remain.

The Flames beat Detroit 4-1 on Saturday, with Zayne Parekh and Matvei Gridin both scoring on the power play. That followed a 2-1 victory over Minnesota, where Devin Cooley made 38 saves to protect an early lead.

Cooley has stopped 100 of his last 104 shots, giving Calgary a chance despite their struggles at even strength. However, injuries to Mikael Backlund and Jonathan Huberdeau have reduced their attacking options, and Toronto's penalty kill could limit the effectiveness of Calgary's strongest offensive weapon.

Verdict

Toronto's attacking depth and special teams advantage make the Maple Leafs to win the preferred selection. Auston Matthews anytime goalscorer and William Nylander 1+ point complete the betting card.
