Melbet to sponsor Wadau Premier League

Online gaming company Melbet has been confirmed as the official sponsors of the inaugural Wadau Premier League.

The Kenyan league is set to kick-off this weekend (February 27th 2021).

The amateur football league will feature eight teams: Hippos, Ndovu, Tigers, Simba, Mafisi, Swara, Kulundeng Original and Kulundeng.

Speaking after Melbet Kenya was confirmed as sponsors, Wadau Premier League coordinator Bob Otieno said the main reason for the formation of the league was to promote fun among football fans in the African country.

"We as fans who are a key stakeholder in football, we have been ignored for so long and we are just trying to create our space," he said.

"So, it is a good day for fans today, because apart from watching professional players play, they will also get an opportunity to play the game."
