The United States’ dominance of the Olympics is expected to continue at the Tokyo Games.
No nation has won more Olympic Games gold medals than the USA, who have amassed 1,127 since the 1896 event.
To put that into perspective, of the current active nations Germany are next up with 283.
The Americans set the standard at the 2016 Games by leaving Rio de Janeiro with 46 gold medals.
They have won the most gold medals at each of the last two Games, with China the last nation to beat them back in 2008.
Therefore it is no surprised to see the bookmakers making the United States clear favourites for the most gold medals at this summer’s Games.
William Hill are 1/7 that the Americans collect more golds than any other nation in Tokyo.
China, who have been in the top three for gold medals in each of the last three games, are next up at 9/2.
There is a huge jump in the odds from there with Japan next up at 25/1 and Great Britain out at 40/1.
