In the upcoming match at the Australian Open, Aryna Sabalenka is expected to outclass Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah. Sabalenka is in prime form, coming fresh off a title defense in Brisbane without dropping a set. Her powerful baseline game and extensive experience at the Grand Slam level give her a clear edge over Rajaonah, who is yet to face a top-40 opponent. Rajaonah, a promising young French player, is making strides on the ITF circuit and closing in on a top-100 debut.

Aryna Sabalenka Back in Command Down Under

Aryna Sabalenka has opened 2026 in dominant fashion, successfully defending her Brisbane title without dropping a set. Wins over Madison Keys, Karolina Muchova and Marta Kostyuk saw her concede no more than seven games in any match.

The reigning US Open champion has carried over her ruthless 2025 form, asserting control early in the season and sending a clear message to the rest of the field.

Australia has been particularly kind to Sabalenka. She lifted the Australian Open titles in 2023 and 2024, dropping just one set across those runs, and narrowly missed a third straight crown in 2025 after a tight final loss to Keys.

Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah on the Brink of the Top 100

Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah is closing in on a top-100 debut after two strong seasons on the ITF circuit. She has already impressed on the WTA Tour with a quarterfinal run in Rouen and a hard-court title in São Paulo while ranked outside the top 200.

Those results earned her a reciprocal wildcard into the Australian Open, marking only her second appearance in a Grand Slam main draw.

Her first came at Roland-Garros last year, where she fell in the opening round to Leyre Romero Gormaz. Despite the straight-sets loss, she showed promise by pushing one set to a tiebreak.

Verdict

There is a clear gap in class and experience in this matchup. Sabalenka’s firepower and authority from the baseline should allow her to dictate from start to finish and move through without any real danger.
