In an anticipated face-off at the ATP Indian Wells, Alexander Zverev is set to defend his undefeated track record against Brandon Nakashima. With an impeccable service record and having won all previous five encounters, Zverev is favored to win in straight sets. Despite Nakashima's promising form this season, including a semifinal appearance in Acapulco, his track record against top players remains a challenge. Zverev, fresh off a dominant performance against Matteo Berrettini, is expected to maintain his winning streak.

Nakashima With Ten Wins in 2026

Brandon Nakashima has had some promising performances this year, starting with a final appearance in Brisbane where he lost to Daniil Medvedev.

The 24-year-old failed to get past the second round in his next three tournaments. He bounced back in Acapulco, beating Valentin Vacherot on his way to the semi-finals where he went down in 3 sets to Frances Tiafoe.

Nakashima had a comfortable start in Indian Wells, defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-3 6-4 in 73 minutes. He won 64% of his 2nd serves and didn’t give up a break point, hitting 13 aces.

Zverev 8-3 in 2026

Alexander Zverev did it the hard way at the Australian Open, just one straight sets win on his way to the semi-finals. He served for the match against Alcaraz before going down in 5 sets.

The German disappointed in Acapulco, cruising past Corentin Moutet before a narrow 6-3 6-7 7-6 second round defeat to Miomir Kecmanovic.

Zverev was dominant in his opening match in Indian Wells, beating Matteo Berrettini 6-3 6-4. He won89% of his 1st serves and 82% of his 2nd serves, getting it done in 71 minutes.

The 28-year-old spoke after the victory: "I am very happy with the performance. Against Matteo, it is very difficult. I lost the past two matches against him.

"I have struggled in Indian Wells before, but I feel different this year. Hopefully, it is going to be a different result and it was a good start."

Verdict

Alexander Zverev’s serve was sensational against Matteo Berrettini and the German has an impressive 5-0 record against Brandon Nakashima. I am backing the fourth seed to get through in straight sets.
