Novak Djokovic is set to face Kamil Majchrzak at the ATP Indian Wells Open, along with intriguing stats and predictions about the match outcome. Although Majchrzak is not a regular top 50 contender, he is noted for his resilience against top players, often pushing matches to tiebreaks. Djokovic’s sparing participation doesn't detract from his stellar record at Indian Wells. Predictions suggest a challenging match, potentially exceeding 19.5 games and Majchrzak could steal a set. The recommendation leans toward avoiding short odds on Djokovic and considering a 2-1 set win for Djokovic.

Kamil Majchrzak has lost in straight sets only once in his previous 17 matches. He has taken sets off Ben Shelton and Daniil Medvedev in that run, the Pole to keep it close against Novak Djokovic.

This will be the first match between Novak Djokovic and Kamil Majchrzak.

Djokovic Chasing Sixth Title in Indian Wells

Novak Djokovic is playing sparingly these days but still occupies third position in the world rankings. He withdrew from the Adelaide International performed well at the Australian Open.

The 38-year-old cruised into the quarter-finals where he was 4-6 3-6 3-1 down to Lorenzo Musetti, the Italian retiring due to a thigh injury. He trailed Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals before coming through to win in 5 sets, saving 16/18 break points.

The Serbian took the first set off Carlos Alcaraz in the final but couldn’t stick with the World No.1, going down 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5.

Djokovic spoke about his start to 2026: "That was an amazing start of the year for me. Considering that I haven't been able to reach [a major final] since Wimbledon 2024, and lost to either Sinner or Alcaraz at all of the Slams last year, it was just an incredible feeling to be able to beat Sinner in five sets..."

"And then, having another great match with Carlos, who was just too good in the end. For me, that has been a phenomenal result."

"I have proven to myself primarily, and to others, that I can still compete at the highest level and beat these guys. So my logic is why not keep going as long as I have that fire and flair and quality and also motivation to do that."

Majchrzak Close to Top 50

Kamil Majchrzak has never been a Top 50 player but is close to the career milestone. He beat Daniel Altmaier and Reilly Opelka in Brisbane before a 6-7 6-3 6-2 quarter-final defeat to Daniil Medvedev.

The 30-year-old lost in straight sets to Fabian Marozsan in the Australian Open second round and hasn’t won since. He went close in Doha and Dubai, beaten in 3 sets by Arthur Fils and Alexei Popyrin.

The Pole produced another inconsistent performance in the first round in Indian Wells, defeating Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 6-3 1-6 7-5.

Verdict

Kamil Majchrzak rarely goes down easy and Novak Djokovic is competing in his second event this year. I am avoiding the short odds on Djokovic and backing over 19.5 games.
