Caty McNally brings superior tour-level experience and a strong grass track record into her WTA Eastbourne quarterfinal match against Croatia's Petra Marcinko, who is enjoying a breakthrough week. McNally, now No. 50 in the world, enters as the favorite, having beaten Marcinko in both their prior encounters. While Marcinko has made impressive strides this season, including her first tour title, McNally's consistency and experience on grass are expected to be the deciding factors in what promises to be a competitive clash.

McNally Through to the Last Eight

Caty McNally survived a tough three-set battle against Janice Tjen in the first round, winning 7-5, 6-7, 6-3, before producing a far more comfortable 6-3, 6-0 victory over Emiliana Arango to reach the quarterfinals.

This is the third grass-court quarterfinal of McNally's career. Her previous two both came in 's-Hertogenbosch, and she lost on both occasions, most recently to Ajla Tomljanovic a few weeks ago.

The American has produced steady results this season, reaching the quarterfinals in Ostrava and 's-Hertogenbosch, the fourth round in Madrid, and the third round in Miami. Those performances helped her achieve a career-high ranking of No. 50.

McNally holds a 2-6 career record in tour-level quarterfinals and has not won a match at this stage since 2023.

Marcinko Extends Breakthrough Week

Petra Marcinko lost in the final qualifying round to Daria Snigur but made full use of her lucky loser opportunity, defeating Antonia Ruzic and Kimberly Birrell to reach the Eastbourne quarterfinals.

This has been a breakthrough week for the Croatian, who had never won a main-draw match on grass at any level before arriving in Eastbourne.

Marcinko started the season with just two main-draw wins from her first nine tournaments. Her results improved during the clay swing, where she reached the semifinals of the WTA 125 event in Oeiras and went on to win the title in Rabat. Those performances helped her break into the top 50 rankings for the first time.

The title run in Rabat remains the only previous tour-level quarterfinal of her career. She will now look to repeat that success in Eastbourne. Her opponent, Caty McNally, holds a 2-6 career record in tour-level quarterfinals.
