Djokovic Doing it Tough in Indian Wells


Novak Djokovic withdrew from the Adelaide International before going close to winning the Australian Open.

The 38-year-old overcame Jannik Sinner in 5 sets and won the first set against Carlos Alcaraz, going down 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5 in the final. The performance saw him overtake Alexander Zverev and claim third spot in the rankings.

The Serbian hasn’t done it easy in Indian Wells, coming back to beat Kamil Majchrzak 4-6 6-1 6-2 before a 6-4 1-6 6-4 victory over Aleksandar Kovacevic. He hasn’t got past the fourth round at the event since 2016.

Djokovic spoke about the conditions in California: "I’m not really enjoying myself at all times, to be honest. You’re trying to thrive in these kinds of conditions where you’re facing an opponent playing lights-out tennis."

Draper Continuing his Comeback


Jack Draper didn’t compete after the US Open, taking a long layoff to recover from an arm injury. He didn’t feature in Australia in an attempt to regain full fitness.

The Brit competed in Dubai, beating Quentin Halys before a 7-5 6-7 6-4 second round defeat to Arthur Rinderknech.

The 24-year-old fell behind in his opening match in Indian Wells, coming back to beat Roberto Bautista Agut 3-6 6-3 6-2. He spoke after the win against the Spaniard: “Even though from the moment I got here last week, I have felt the love and special feelings being back here, but at the same time I haven’t played in a long time and have had a difficult injury, so mixed emotions."

Draper defeated Francisco Cerundolo 6-1 7-5 in the third round, winning 41% of his 2nd serves and saving 2/4 break points.
