Nuno Borges has an 11-15 record this year, reaching quarter-finals in Hong Kong and Barcelona. He suffered a 6-3 6-4 first round defeat to Mariano Navone in Madrid.

The 29-year-old went to the Cagliari Challenger where he beat Cristian Garin in 3 sets. He failed to convert a match point in a narrow quarter-final exit against Matteo Arnaldi.

The World No.52 got off to a great start in Rome, thrashing Jesper de Jong 6-3 6-0 in 61 minutes. He won 91% of his 1st serves and saved one break point.

Rafael Jodar started the year ranked 165 and is rapidly approaching the Top 20. He won his first ATP Tour event in Marrakech and backed up in Barcelona. 

The 19-year-old cruised past Jaume Munar, Ugo Carabelli and Cameron Norrie in straight sets before a 3 sets loss to Arthur Fils in the semi-finals.

The Spaniard came back to beat Jesper de Jong 2-6 7-5 6-4 in Madrid where he went on another deep run. He got past Alex de Minaur, Joao Fonseca and Vit Kopriva but couldn’t stop Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals, going down 6-2 7-6.
