The WWE Royal Rumble, and the road to WrestleMania, is just around the corner, and this weekend the WWE will step up its creative plans for the biggest time of the year with the Saturday Night's Main Event card in Montreal.

Big names are in action and the stakes will be high at the Bell Centre in Montreal, but who will have their hand raised on this iconic WWE show? Here are our predictions for the card:

Fatal 4-Way Number 1 Contender Match: Sami Zayn vs Randy Orton vs Trick Williams vs Damian Priest

Who will challenge Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE championship at the upcoming Royal Rumble event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia? That will be determined by the outcome of this big matchup.

The WWE have put together an eclectic group for this contest, including a newcomer to the main roster. Trick Williams has been thrust into the spotlight just weeks after moving up from NXT, and it is clear to see that the WWE brass has high hopes for one of their developmental standouts in recent years. But while hopes are high, it is tough to see the booking team strap the rocket ship to the youngster in the run-up to Mania.

Randy Orton and Damian Priest are much more established stars, but it feels like the pair have been included in this matchup to give it more star power and add more credibility for the eventual winner in Sami Zayn.

Zayn has become a big sentimental favourite with an audience that wants to see all of his hard work over the years be rewarded with a title run, and this bout is taking place in his hometown of Montreal. In previous years WWE was almost obsessed with infuriating crowds by having their hometown hero lose, but in recent years that has not nearly happened as much, unless the storyline required a defeat. And on top of that, Zayn’s religious background has made him star to fans in Saudi Arabia, where the Royal Rumble is taking place.

There are few places in the world where McIntyre-Zayn could be bigger, so we expect Zayn to come out on top in the main event, and who knows, we could see him fulfil his WWE championship dream in Saudi Arabia. Even if it proves to be a short reign.

Cody Rhodes vs Jacob Fatu

Jacob Fatu played a pivotal role in the recent “Three Stages of Hell” match that saw Cody Rhodes lose the Undisputed WWE championship to Drew McIntyre. ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ attacked both men in the latter stages of that contest, but ultimately it was a continued attack on Rhodes that allowed McIntyre to escape the cage and become champion once again.

Despite the loss Rhodes remains the face of the WWE roster alongside Roman Reigns, and he will almost certainly be a headline attraction at this year’s WrestleMania. The question is how will they get him there – a third Royal Rumble victory perhaps? One thing is for sure, the WWE very rarely burns its top babyface with meaningless losses, and there is a way to book this match and keep both Rhodes and Fatu – a potential headline star of the future – looking strong.

The odds clearly suggest the outcome of this match is not a foregone conclusion, and we would not be shocked to see either man come out on top. It looks highly likely that Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre are going to cross paths before WrestleMania, and perhaps that WWE championship match could take place in the final PLE before the WWE’s biggest event of the year.

Therefore we would not be shocked to see McIntyre get involved in this one, costing Fatu the victory to give Rhodes momentum heading into the Rumble, and the ‘Samoan Werewolf’ a reason to still fight the champion despite a loss.

Women's Tag Team Championship: Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY vs Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez

Newly-minted champions Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY are making their first defence against the new Judgment Day line-up of Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez, who recently won a number one contender’s match.

Hotshot title reigns – reigns that lasted mere days or a couple of weeks – have been a rarity in the new era of WWE. There have been some, but that has usually been when a bigger storyline has called for it, like last year when Becky Lynch turned heel during the RAW after WrestleMania.

Right now the most likely storyline to emerge from this matchup is the growing tension between Morgan and Perez, and for that reason it makes little sense to put the title belts on them at this time. Plus, the inevitable Ripley-SKY separation is something we expect to see closer to WrestleMania, perhaps leading to a match between the pair as ‘Mami’ finally looks to get the better of the Japanese star after many failed attempts in the past.

Therefore we expect the post-match announcement to feature the words, “AND STILL”.
