Jiri Prochazka Riding Back-To-Back Victories

Jiri Prochazka is a former UFC light-heavyweight champion and the current number two ranked contender with a career record of 32-5 (28 KOs, 3 Subs) and 1 draw.

Prochazka debuted in the UFC in the summer of 2020, following a successful run in the Japan-based Rizin promotion, and quickly made an impression.

He knocked out Volkan Oezdemir in the second round in his debut, and followed that up with a round two knockout of Dominick Reyes to earn a shot at the light-heavyweight crown less than two years after debuting in the promotion.

The 33-year-old Czech fighter took his big chance too as he submitted Glover Teixeira in the final round to claim the title, only to relinquish the title later in 2022 due to an injury.

Prochazka attempted to regain the championship fight in his comeback bout, only to suffer a second-round knockout at the hands of Alex Pereira.

He rebounded with a second-round stoppage of Aleksandar Rakic to secure another title fight with Pereira, but again came up short as he was once again stopped with strikes in the second round.

‘Denisa’ has not lost since though – he recorded back-to-back third-round knockout successes in 2025 as he took out Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree Jr.

Carlos Ulberg Enters On 9-Fight Win Streak

Carlos Ulberg is the number three ranked contender in the UFC light-heavyweight division with a professional record of 13-1 (8 KOs, 1 Sub).

Ulberg – a former kickboxing standout – endured a disappointing UFC debut as he was knocked out in the second round by Kennedy Nzechukwu in March 2021.

He quickly put that behind him though, out-pointing Fabio Cherant over three rounds, and that victory proved to be the start of a nine-fight win streak that has earned him this title bout.

The 35-year-old New Zealander then reeled off three first-round knockout victories as he stoped Tafon Nchukwi, Nicolae Negumereanu and Ihor Potieria, before tapping out Jung Da-Un in the third round.

Ulberg’s run of stoppages continued with a 12-second knockout of Alonzo Menifield in May 2024, before finally ending in 2024 with a unanimous decision win over Volkan Oezdemir.

‘Black Jag’ followed that up with a points win against former champion Jan Blachowicz in March 2025, before closing out the year with a first-round knockout of Dominick Reyes.

Verdict

Had Alex Pereira not entered the division, there is every chance that Jiri Prochazka would be entering this fight as champion.

Prochazka is a talented striker with fight-finishing power, and he can showcase that power to regain the light-heavyweight crown.
