Serbia Aiming for Consolation Prize
Serbia made it to the semifinals without losing a single match but won't be able to defend the silver medal from the previous EuroVolley.
After five wins in the group stages, where they dropped only two sets, the Eagles had a slow start in the Round of 16 clash against Croatia, losing the first set before winning the next three to advance, allowing just 48 points across those sets.
Serbia had zero problems in their quarterfinal clash against inexperienced Greece, cruising to a 3-0 victory and once again limiting the opposition to just 51 points.
They were expected to put up a good fight in the semifinals yesterday against the hosts Turkey but lost in straight sets.
Verdict
Serbia's spirits are crushed after a convincing loss to Turkey. I don't view them as massive favorites here, so Poland in a +1.5 set handicap looks like the best bet.
