They matched the Cats early but conceded five goals late in the second term, with Geelong’s experience coming to the fore in a margin that could have been more given their inside 50 dominance (67-42) and inaccuracy (17.20 to 11.10).
Fremantle Dockers Competitive at 4-1
The Dockers have won four of their five matches this season. That win-loss record could be 5-0 were it not for their second-half fade to Geelong in Round 1 when going down by 10 points.
But the Dockers can be excused for that and have found a way to win in recent weeks by managing key moments against a couple of the top-eight sides from last year, defeating Adelaide by two and then Collingwood by six.
Against the Magpies, it was a low-scoring match in wet conditions with Isaiah Dudley and Jye Amiss coming up clutch with two goals each, while Luke Ryan and Jordan Clark both had 25+ disposals.
The Dockers’ three-pronged attack of Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss and Patrick Voss have combined for 31 goals this season.
