Dream Chasing a Strong Playoff Position
With the playoffs just around the corner, Atlanta Dream can be satisfied with their results and achievements in the regular season, currently sitting in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-12 record.
Their series of five straight victories ended in early August with a convincing home defeat against the champions Las Vegas Aces 109-87, struggling defensively and allowing 62% shooting from the field while making just 4 out of 24 three-point attempts.
They returned to winning ways instantly by beating Phoenix Mercury 96-82, then lost to Washington Mystics 79-74 due to awful 32% field goal shooting, while beating Toronto Tempo 107-95 in their most recent appearance.
Sun Still Struggling at the Bottom
Connecticut Sun are one of the worst performers in the WNBA 2026 campaign, occupying 14th place in the table with a poor 8-23 record.
Their results in the second half of July were disastrous, recording consecutive defeats to Phoenix Mercury 72-63, Indiana Fever 123-88, Washington Mystics 92-84 and Chicago Sky 94-88.
Nothing changed for Connecticut in early August, being nowhere close to causing an upset in their first and only appearance so far at Dallas Wings 83-63, scoring just 26 points in the second half with awful 34% field goal shooting.
They finally returned to winning ways five days ago, pulling off an upset 75-72 home victory against Phoenix Mercury. Kennedy Burke was the top performer here with 15 points and 5/7 FG shooting.
