Washington Mystics made a shaky start to the new WNBA campaign but have found stability over the last couple of weeks, with five straight victories lifting them to fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 17-12 record.
They had little trouble overcoming the struggling Connecticut Sun in their final July appearance, claiming a 92-84 home victory. Sonia Citron led the way with 22 points while shooting 6-for-9 from the field. They followed that up with another strong home win over Dallas Wings, 81-75.
Washington made it five wins in a row two nights ago against the same opposition, although they were pushed much harder before claiming a 96-92 victory. They erased a 15-point deficit, with Shakira Austin leading the way with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
