Australia vs Spain Women Live Stream & Tips – Tight Game Expected at the World Cup 2026 Quarterfinals

Australia barely held off Italy in a tense finish, surviving thanks to a strong early lead even as their offense faltered late. Spain also struggled offensively in their recent game against Mali, suggesting both teams come into their matchup with attacking concerns. As a result, the prediction is for a defensively-dominated, low-scoring game, likely ending with under 146.5 points scored—a scenario which should make for a tense and strategic contest.

Match Preview

Australia won their last two direct clashes against Spain but might face fitness problems here after playing an exhausting Round of 16 match against Italy yesterday. La Roja are tagged as favorites to advance on paper.

Australia Facing Fatigue Problems

Australia's performance in the first round was far from ideal, but they still claimed a convincing 70-54 victory, allowing just 24 points in the first half. Shephanie Talbot had an amazing performance with 19 points (7/9 FG shooting), eight rebounds and three assists.

Their offense did a much better job in an 87-71 victory against Turkey, shooting 61% from the field. Ezi Magbegor was named player of the match with 21 points (10/14 FG shooting).

The Opals matched favored Belgium for three quarters but ultimately got outplayed, losing 80-68 due to a poor performance in the final ten minutes (13-20). They finished the group stage in second place.

Yesterday, Australia entered the final quarter of their Round of 16 clash against Italy with a 16-point advantage and almost wasted it, winning narrowly 82-80. Isobel Borlase saved them with clutch shots, landing 30 points in total.

Spain Enter This Match as Favorites

Spain also had an amazing start to the WC 2026 campaign, crushing the tournament hosts Germany 83-53 in a heavily one-sided clash, even though the pre-game odds suggested a tight encounter.

They were tagged as massive favorites in the second round against Mali but suffered an 82-73 shock defeat, landing just 4 out of 22 three-point attempts while also missing 8 out of 17 free throws.

In the first-place decider, La Roja battled Japan in the third round and delivered, winning convincingly 79-59. Iyana Martin topped the scoring sheet with 20 points, while Awa Thiam had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Verdict

Australia's shooting was completely shut down in the deciding moments against Italy yesterday, yet they survived thanks to an early advantage. Spain also revealed some offensive flaws against Mali, so I am predicting a nervous encounter with less than 146.5 points.
