France and Hungary put up impressive defensive performances in their crucial basketball matchup, with France holding Hungary to only 20 points in the first half. With a direct path to the quarterfinals on the line, every basket matters in this closely fought contest. Due to their strong defensive play, betting under 153.5 total points is recommended, as points are expected to remain low.

Match Preview

Even though they had certain problems in the paint, South Korea contained Nigeria's offense to take a surprising win yesterday. Can they cause another upset against heavy favorites France?

France Dominating From the Start

France had a furious start to the World Cup 2026 yesterday, leading 61-20 at half-time against Hungary and then finishing the job later with a 99-53 victory.

Their two-point shot selection was fantastic, landing 20 out of 32 attempts, while forcing 22 turnovers. Dominique Malonga was named player of the match, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

France were aiming for a medal in the previous World Championship in Australia four years ago, but were stopped in the quarterfinals by China 85-71.

Their most recent accomplishments were the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and bronze medal in Tokyo in 2020.

South Korea Aiming for Another Upset

South Korea Women were tagged as massive underdogs in yesterday's clash against Nigeria, but earned a convincing 99-81 victory and made a huge step towards the playoffs.

Their three-point shooting made the difference here, landing 14 out of 28 attempts, while defensively they forced 23 turnovers. Park Ji-Hyun was unstoppable on the floor, scoring 27 points with 6/10 three-point shooting.

South Korea had a disappointing run at the FIBA Basketball World Championship 2022, finishing in 10th place after winning just one out of five games in the group stages (beat Bosnia & Herzegovina 99-66).

This is their 17th consecutive appearance at the World Cup.

Verdict

Both sides looked great defensively, especially France, who allowed just 20 points to Hungary in the first half. The winner of this clash will most likely advance directly to the quarterfinals, so the stakes are high. Under 153.5 points looks like the best bet.
