The Yellows opened the new campaign in the best way possible, easily outplaying Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Super Cup 101-83 last weekend. Veteran Roman Sorkin led the way with 16 points, while Colson and Madar contributed 13 points each.
Their start to the new EuroLeague season was disappointing, though, losing 84-74 to one of the weakest sides in the competition, ASVEL, last week in France. The opposition had a lot of open three-pointers, landing 16 out of 34.
Maccabi returned to winning ways last weekend, taking out their frustrations against Ironi Kiryat Ata 109-61. Recent signing Daniel Theis was the top performer here with 15 points.
Besiktas Facing Early Season Problems
Besiktas are facing a lot of problems already, just a few weeks into the new season, suffering three defeats in their last three appearances across competitions.
After having disastrous shooting numbers in the Super Cup final, which they lost to Fenerbahce 72-69, the Black Eagles were also beaten in their EuroLeague premiere at home by Valencia 96-94, missing a three-pointer at the buzzer. Jaylen Nowell and Eugene Omoruyi were the top scorers, landing 17 points each.
Last weekend, Dusan Alimpijevic's side locked horns with Anadolu Efes in the Super Lig and suffered another loss, 95-81, mainly due to 20 turnovers.
