They recently had a 10-game winning streak that started in early July with an 86-80 victory over Connecticut Sun and included several impressive wins, but it came to an end last week after losing to underdogs Los Angeles Sparks 89-82 at home.
The Lynx responded perfectly by taking down the reigning champions Las Vegas Aces 98-87 last weekend, winning all four quarters, and then also took down Dallas Wings 103-90 without any problems.
Fire Finding Good Rhythm
Portland Fire are one of the league's newer franchises and have also struggled this season, winning just 12 of their 32 games to sit 9th in the overall standings with minimal chances of reaching the playoffs.
They had a rough start to this month, registering back-to-back defeats against Indiana Fever 112-98 and Los Angeles Sparks 106-101, then ended their five-game losing streak with a convincing 97-83 home win over Toronto Tempo.
Portland made it two in a row last weekend, outplaying table strugglers Seattle Storm 100-93 in front of the home crowd. Their two-point shot selection was excellent here, landing 23 out of 30 attempts. Bridget Carleton was named player of the match with 24 points, six rebounds and four assists.
